This was a Detroit area car, used to see it around at local shows and cruise nights. Haven’t seen it in some time although I’m not in the area much.

Just out of curiosity, how tall is he? I have always wondered every time I see a photo of that car.

One kool thing about building a kustom is stepping out of your comfort zone. When you think out of the box you (sometimes) come up with the right choice. Also it is a fun ride thinking about all of the possibilities.

I was going to remove the stainless off of my 60 Impala. Cut in a vent, install some bullets etc., I was talking to my daughter (she was 10 years old) about my plans. She thought it over and told me how can you get any kooler than a big chrome airplane on the side of your car? She was right. Sorry for the ramble back to our scheduled thread.

    Kool thread Mark!!

Unique! The 58 hood (with scoop) on a 57 is a classic touch. Also seen a 58-60 T-Bird bumper/grille on a 56, but the Olds bumper/grille looks like it belongs there. VERY clever. Lucas

  22. @lucas doolin The hood, side trim, headlights all suggest it's a '58.

Think you're right. '57 and '58 have the same body, dash. Putting a '58 hood (with scoop) was an easy mod back in the day.

I wish I knew what happened to the box of photos I had from that trip, only a few of the many shot with that old K1000 seem to have survived...I had driven my '51 ford coupe from Ozark, AR to Davenport, IA for what amounts to a "test drive" after rebuilding the 289 in my spare bedroom.

On that trip I met Bill Hines, got reacquainted with Bo Huff, and drooled over the Road Agent and McPhail's chevy...
