^^^ Cool. My old Corvair had a Gas heater in it, worked better than the forced hot air.

  3. Today was the first opportunity I had the time to work on the sedan, I spent a few hours this afternoon trying different suggestions that was offered by you guys.

I checked the thermostat and it seemed good but since I had it out I replaced it with a new one.

I picked up a laser thermometer and found out the hoses from the water pump and the intake were between 164 & 188 when the engine was running and showing 165 on the gauge, on the inside after the water passes through the electric cut off valve it was around 88 to 103.

I still am not getting heat, I'm thinking I have a faulty valve, HRP

Just by pass the valve with a piece of pipe for now and see if that helps.

  5. Find you a sexy little ball valve to put in the line so you can close it during the summer :D The take the offending valve out, grasp it firmly, and throw it as far as you can!

  6. I'm confused again..........electric cut off valve? Do you have 2 or did you determine the one you had was electric? It may have been addressed, I don't particularly want to reread 5 pages again.

I agree with Lloyd, I have a ball valve to shut off or turn on the heat on all my hot rods. The biggest issue with a ball valve is when you go for a cruise and the temp is around 45. You have to decide if you want heat or not, otherwise you have to stop, open the hood, and change the valve position. Gene

HRP have you talked with the tech support people at vintage air. I would definitely give them a call.

Just stick a chunk of cardboard in front of the radiator..... period correct.

  11. I will try to explain what is there and why I did it that way, Vintage Air supplied a electric heater control valve with the unit and it was installed correctly according to the instructions this is all done back during the dog days of summer, when we charged the air we got nothing but heat and I was leaving on the All Deuce Run the next weekend.

I tried everything I could think of and the only solution I could come up with is go to the parts store and buy a inline valve to stop the water from entering the unit, All I knew was I didn't want heat when the temperatures were hovering in the 80's & 90's.

That is the reason for the extra valve that yu see in the photo.

The arrows on the Vintage Air valve are in the proper direction for water flow as is the extra valve.

No sir, I wanted to try and see if the laser temperature gun would help in deciding my next course of action but calling the support line is my next step.

Good ole vintage air crap valve failure then... These things are a known issue for sure, not sealing up completely as you found before and now wont release.. Pull the electric one out bypass it with a piece of pipe, just put a ball valve under the hood... Call it good... YOU WILL HAVE HEAT SIR... ANd be able to control it when you want to.

  14. Thank you so much for that insightful & invaluable bit of wisdom, you don't know how much I appreciate it.

I might also suggest that in the future you restrict your post of nude girls to a porn site instead of on the hamb, just offering you some unsolicited advice since you felt the need to offer me some. HRP

Good job Danny, a lot of period correct cars have A/C on them. There’s nothing wrong with wanting creature comfort in our cars

Danny, glad to be a member of your clique. Don't let an insignificant post get you down. As a fellow Southerner, I also see no need to be uncomfortable driving my cars. Mine always have Vintage Air and I've never had a heat issue.

Those who live in the south, know the definition of "Swamp Ass"...
    Caution......
Driving hours in swamp ass conditions leads to uncomfortable chaffing, sticky nuts, soaked drawers, no loving tonight syndrome, and has been known to cause stinky ass syndrome and slippery toilet seat injuries.

Say all that real fast like those cure all pills on TV commercials and You should get a laugh if you know about this widespread heat effect.

  23. So you got a valve, it’s electric, and it gives you heat when you want AC . There’s now another foreign valve to stop the electric valve and now the car gives you no heat when you want it. Also the AC is too cold.
    Man you’re all messed up,,

Sounds like your electric valve is working exactly backwards and the foreign valve is just confusing the issue.

  24. I've had swamp ass, it's not pretty.

  25. Danny, the electric valve supplied by VA has a wiring "harness-connector" that has a ground wire.........white wire with a ring terminal. Is that connected/grounded?
Vintage Air instructions suck big time. I had less trouble figuring out my 97 wire engine harness than I did the VA stuff.
If you call VA, I'm thinking the first thing they'll tell you is to remove the added valve so they know what they're working with trying to troubleshoot.

The difference in temperature of the heater hoses can be detected easy enough with your bare hand. If one is warmer than the other, one of two things can cause this. Check for proper valve operation, electrically actuated or mechanical. There should only be one installed in the system. If neither gets hot you need to back track to the water pump. I have seen hoses that have deteriorated and cause an obstruction inside the hose without any outside appearing indication.
Second thing could be an airlock but I'm doubtful of that if several thermal cycles have occurred. To find out, disconnect the return hose at the highest point possible to allow air to escape.
As previously suggested, bypass the valve/s with a piece of pipe. Its just a simple process of elimination. Good luck.

Damn it all to hell...I'm a day late to this thread
    :(

First I missed the Nudie post (love me some good porn):p
Then I miss a great "swamp ass" conversation...which I'm sure I could have interjected some delightfully disgusting input:eek:
Finally, I hear about this HRP clique, that as far as I know, I'm probably not a member of...:(

    Damn it all to hell.
