I have them by make and year. On dad`s wall they were speratic. Took a while to find a certain car. He has since moved and I have his collection in a cabinet separated by make, model and years. I have lots more to post. All the pic`s I `ve posted are from this 84 show unless noted. 2019_07_04_171909.jpg 2019_07_03_082256.jpg Some how I remember.

Scan0503.jpg The top picture was taken at the 84 show. Then the bottom pic of the same show was taken in Holland Michigan.

Here's my very mild high school car, a '55 Club Sedan, Pinetree Green and Neptune Green. Bought by accident at an auction by my dad in '82. Stock, but then I read an article by Pat Ganahl stating that any 50's car could be cool with a few modifications. He showed a shoebox Ford, lowered with spun disc wheelcovers ... so that's what I did. Lowered the '55, spun discs, and lake pipes from Night Prowlers and the kustom bug had me from then on.

Picture is under the open air dome (long gone) where the pics of the 'Bondo' truck is parked. I pulled under there to take a pic, but mostly to rappp up the cherry bombs on my 272 motor.

I'll post up my collection of pics from the show later tonight or maybe this weekend. 01162017_0004.jpg 01162017_0026.jpg

I have a story about this 39 Chevy. I admit it shows some immaturity on my dad's part, but it's still a good story. The owner was from Marshalltown, IA, and my dad had just finished the 38 Chevy that's in my avatar. He went to a car show in Marshalltown and come awards time, this 39 was getting everything. (my dad's 38 was and is a really nice car, won a Top 25 at the Nationals in 83) Larry Wymer from DSM went up and said to the host club, "Geez, you outta give Dan Hay something, he drove up from DSM and you're giving all the trophies to a local guy" So they decided to give dad 'best interior'. Dad was so mad about the whole deal that when they gave out awards they had to drive up and get them in front of the crowd. Dad drove up, grabbed the trophy, then drove 15 more feet and tossed the trophy in a dumpster in front of the whole crowd then drove out of the show!

Kinda petty I know, but a great story.

Dan, did the car in your avatar have Corvette aluminum 15x8's on it? Also a painted 'saying' or 'character' on the cowl that would show if the butterfly hood was up, hidden when the hood was down. If so I have a pic of that somewhere. Thanks for the story.

Dan, I don't dispute your story, but that's not a local Marshalltown car. Right on the front plaque it says Ramblers of Waterloo. I've been in Marshalltown my whole life and I know it's not from here.

BTW, my Dad was a member of the Goodtimer's in Marshalltown that put on the show Memorial Day weekend from mid 70's through early 80's. It was probably their car show your Dad got pissed at. :)

  28. I was there in my old 56 Pontiac. They used to take a photo of your car as you came in the front gate. Then, you could buy the photo from the photographer. This is my "gate" photo.
That day I broke off a sneaker pipe on one of the fairground speed bumps. 56poncho.jpg

  29. I believe ya, details of a story can change over 30 years. It's a small world I'm sure your dad was there when my dad had his tantrum.

Is this Gary Mathern’s Buick? I seen it when it was finished. Bright purple with a fully dressed straight 8.
