  1. A real shame that chassis will be covered up so much!

Thanks...moving along...motor / trans in...she's sitting on her feet.... off to header shop Saturday. (I caved in...done so many headers over the years I don't want to do anymore).
Plus Robbie is cracker jack with stainless. IMG_20200127_142157690~2.jpeg IMG_20200127_142258927~2.jpeg IMG_20200127_142007361~2.jpeg IMG_20200127_104354750~2.jpeg

That's the age old conundrum....most of the real neato work put into building is covered up never to be seen and appreciated.
Now with phone cameras I take a bazillion pics...for reference and to show/brag to the lunch buddies.
And with the cranial hard drive failing rapidly, they jack up the memory too.

Model As have had issues with the back half of body not being supported , have you done anything to help support this body in the tail?

    Well two answers:
    1) on my '29 hiboy, no, bobbed it, supported the body to about middle of axle and never had any issues. Metal was good and or fresh.
    2) on my now '32 five window highboy have bobbed the frame also and it supports the body to that point...about center of axle. No gas tank hanging out. Tank is behind seat. Only weight in trunk will be light luggage. Heavy duty stuff will be in a small trailer.

Moving rapidly to Saturdays plan of building stainless headers...had a smidge of open time... decided to build stands for the E&J's before heading to header shop. A great friend, Steve Bright, (Carolina Flash 64 Baracuda SEGA Gasser...one bad ass gasser), lent a strong hand and some great ideas. Ended up with a pair, solid rough ins and pretty well symetrical and balanced. Few small tweaks and the E&J's will light up the highways and byways with hi/lo halogen conversions. Fun stuff. Excited about headers coming for the Ardun. Gritty and grunty. Lots of curves and bends. Couldn't resist.
Moving ahead with wiring, paneling, tidy ups. All in prep for the chassis and final install of body.
    Stay tuned...... IMG_20200208_134559684.jpeg IMG_20200208_134606694.jpeg IMG_20200205_160424341.jpeg

Trial fit...almost perfect... certainly to Timex standards...all electric.... Tesla, not Edison...recover to cinnamon brown...some nice footsie rugs, and the interior will be done. IMG_20200209_122050781.jpeg IMG_20200209_121956889.jpeg IMG_20200209_121931483.jpeg IMG_20200209_121911553.jpeg

Thanks. I broke the cookie jar and had stainless tri-y headers made for the Ardun. They are simply gorgeous. Better to hang them on the wall....art. Added some "knock offs" too.
Getting there...body install and wiring next.

E&J's...some do, some don't...I do...lots of work making stantions...
following curve of the dropped axle, and leaning back...keeping the E&J's tucked in and below the top of the tire.
Hidden wiring, halogen and parking lamp conversions waiting for install. IMG_20200306_144043440.jpeg IMG_20200204_163848838.jpeg IMG_20200204_163828313.jpeg IMG_20200205_103022098.jpeg IMG_20200306_143954648.jpeg

Well, the weekend has come to an end. Daylight savings enhanced the day a bit.
Rear axle squared. Coil overs springs adjusted. Body back on. A few adjustments. (Ha, ha....). Hopefully for the last time. 80/20 probability.
On to wiring, lights and interior.
    Today was a fun day.

    Geeeeze thanks.
    Not to bad at 50ft.
My original intent was to use a good older restoration product for seed and build quickly from there. Speed was important. A Timex, not a Patek Philippe.
Well, selecting the Ardun (vs a sbc), and it's consequence bulk plus a target of 4-5" oil pan ground clearance somewhat derailed my plan. Shoving all the bulk up in the frame/body opened up the Pandora's box of issues to me.
    But we are getting there.
    Few pics from todays effort. IMG_20200311_124240737.jpeg IMG_20200311_091148656.jpeg IMG_20200311_091058367.jpeg IMG_20200311_124143412.jpeg

It's all in the "to do's"....running outa note pads...brake plumbing, vintage plug wire, radiator to heads plumbing..."all we gots to do is what's left". Everyday...inching a little closer....combed wiring to end elements, pre-fitted silencers in anticipation of loud noises, prepping panels for finishing covers, finally figured out 4th gear lockup with 97's...as always little stuff....getting pumped....yee haw... Gots to tell ya....the re-install of the trunk lid converted from rumble seat lid today was a major milestone. With help from two car nut friends and their encouragement/skill we succeeded in a very acceptable fit/operation.
This has been very taxing on the sphincter muscle. But we won.
Keep in mind from day one all work has been done around finish paint, interior upholstery, and a gorgeous wood grained dash.
    Challenging at its best. IMG_20200508_141857580.jpeg IMG_20200508_141836659.jpeg IMG_20200508_141824780.jpeg

Just sharing...wanted some low budget equipment for simple and nostalgia sounds. So headed to the car stereo shop with a plan.
After a near stroke I left dismayed. No way. Will do without.
Had lunch with some younger car-mudgeons and was duly informed of the blue tooth JBL Flip 5 speaker thingie. Next day it was demonstrated. Holy cow Martha....kool as can be. Went right out and bought one...$85 out the door. Size of about 21/2" diameter and 8" long. The sound is simply incredible.
Pair that puppy to Pandora, crank up stations Junior Brown, Road Trippin, no advertising, free....let the wind blow... IMG_20200508_171534788_HDR.jpeg

    Moving on....thought I'd share a few helpfuls.
All kinds of small hurdles crop up..helpful ideas...drill stops...not using them can be costly...use socket or nuts over drill...see pics. Small cables like throttle cables getting frayed. Retwist, carefully, super glue...wah-la. Fan clearance. Flex-a-lite has the unusual answer. Most fan blades project towards radiator. (I have limited room.) Well, Flex-a-lite has the answer. A fan where the blades project behind the face of the pulley..towards the motor.
Whew...that was a savior. Note: Flex says the rpm limit is 8000. My ol Ardun will not see 6000 for sure.
Still pushing the rope up the wall..stay tuned...fire in the hole in the next few days. IMG_20200607_104137861.jpeg IMG_20200607_104040901.jpeg IMG_20200607_104427090.jpeg IMG_20200607_111311706.jpeg IMG_20200607_111432468.jpeg

  30. I’m curious as to how your going to like that fan. I may try one on my car if your happy with it.

You may have already covered this but will you be running a shroud?
