My 64 f-85 has a '66Chevelle 12 bolt rear end. the pinion seal marks it's territory as well as keeps the bottom of the car from rusting. Long term goals are to fix a lengthy punch list before spring. So I ordered seals gaskets ect. from parts store only to find he has every thing but the pinion seal. So I checked the wide web and it looks like there is no pinion seal for a 12 bolt Chevelle rear end. Pick up only.. Any help from the HAMB? what do you use?
You didn’t find a GM 12 bolt pinion seal? https://www.strangeengineering.net/product/12-blt-car-pinion-seal.html/ http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/612104/10002/-1 https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p8...seal_fits_chevy_12_bolt_car__truck_rear_.html Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
8460N is the national number....... https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...7/1970/chevrolet/chevelle?q=pinion+seal&pos=1
Yes all 3 are listed as pick up too. The car and pick up are different. Looks like no on makes the 12 bolt car seal. What some guys are doing is let the seal set back 1/8"??? some even turn a spacer so the pick up seal can tap in tight. Thanks..
The NATIONAL 8460N should be the correct seal for that rearend. That number will find you one at what ever parts house you go to.
If you click on the blue part number it tells you that that seal fits a crap ton of vehicles and that is probably what confuses some people https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...2860,drivetrain,differential+pinion+seal,2380 Rock Auto showing both the seal for the 12 bolt and the 10 bolt one above the other.
