Making my usual craigslist rounds this morning and something really caught my eye, looks like a period custom 42 Buick. Everything has a tinge on it like its been sitting for a considerable amount of time. I don't make a habit of posting anything and everything I find on CL but I thought this one should be shared. Who knows maybe a hamber can be its new owner. The car is not mine and I do not know the owner, if this violates any forum rules just kindly delete it. https://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/for/d/shady-side-1942-buick/7054560799.html
Right? Who knows maybe someone passed and this just isn't the current owners thing. I dunno, way too cool looking from what I can see in the ad.
Looks pretty solid, but that can be deceiving. Good price if it really is not a bondo box. Like the guys garage space, too!
Strangely enough, it's listed in Fredericksburg, which is not at all close to here, but not listed locally as in; Annapolis, Baltimore etc. Could be a scam...
I replied to the ad, the craiglist email relay thing says its in Shady Side which is correct per the map. Seems like an odd ad and car to scam with. I'll update the thread if its legit.
I’m not much of a custom guy, but, I really like the looks of this car. r Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Looks like the back windows just slide in from the front. looks like there maybe a plexiglass sitting on the wood buck in the trunk? Don't have my glasses on and I see a different shade there like something is on top of it.n looks like the wood might have a similar curve to it for a template? anyways I am curious what the red helicopter looking thing is in the play(couch) area.
https://www.ebay.com/i/254467737688...MIzrfEuNeN5wIVgZOzCh0CZg05EAQYAiABEgIUifD_BwE It's on are favorite site.... At least it's legit
Nice share...seems like it's potentially a pretty cool car for the money...good thing it's nowhere near me.
I wish a were 20 years younger and 1500 miles closer; I'd take a very close look. I can usually find something I don't like about a car, but that one appears to have everything done right. If it's not sold today, it's either a scam or a complete "bondo bucket".
I am a Ford guy but I do like this car, I get nervous when I see wiring strewn about the engine compartment from what I could see in the ebay link. Could be an indicator of the type of workmanship underneath. If the loose wires and dirty interior are indeed the only issues, then its a steal. If there wasn't an entire land mass in between us I'd be taking a ride over to look at it today.
$1150 cheaper on the auction site then the cl ad. Usually it is reversed because of selling fees there. anyways listed since Dec. 31 with 15 of us watching it with no offers made yet on it.
Confirmed by the seller, has a title. EDIT: Car was purchased by the current owner a year ago but he says he bought it from an older guy that had it in his barn, period early 60s original custom
I would be curious as to how good the hardtop conversion is regarding things like windows sealing, quarter window operation and such. Looks like they did a good job from the pictures.
it would take a bunch of work to repair the damage he did to the doors and the missing center post. the term "looks like ass" seems appropriate.
