Borrowed an idea from @Marty Strode and reworked the step for my rear cross member. Thanks, Marty.
Found out you can never have enough C-clamps.
Made spring perches for the 8 inch. It came out level and square so I must have done something right.

Slogged away at tearing down my '37

January 16th 2020 Slogging away at the rusted bed bolts. Was under the weather the last few days. Still spent time out in the shop every day but didn't get as much done. Scramblin' out from under the truck several times with the Aztec quickstep put a kink in my operations.

Finally got the bed off but it wasn't pretty. Last two carriage bolts turned in their anchorages. Prepared to grind the heads off when I realized they were both in ends of floating crossmembers and I could lift and lay the bedside down on its side, swing the crossmembers under the remaining board and lift the whole thing off as an assembly. Done! Beer of the day is Clipper City Brewing Company's Heavy Seas Winter Storm Imperial ESB.

  9. Bought a fresh 351W a few years back to replace the one in my 47. Thought I'd check the valvetrain, you know, when you get that feeling, you should.
Super clean, looks like, if they ran it, it was short time. However, some of the lifters have marks on the faces, can't really feel with a finger nail, but, don't want to take a chance.
So, now I get to pick a cam, of my own.

I’ve been cruising all over now that it’s running again....this morning it started a little slower but it’s about 25 degrees outside. I drove to my sons school and when I started it up again it wouldn’t start. My wife jumped me and off I drove to Advanced Auto Parts for a new battery and alternator, both tested poorly. Changed it all out in the parking lot....gauge read 14 volts and off I went. Well before I even made it home it’s back to reading 12 volts and maybe dropping.....damn it what now!

Needed double banjo fuel fittings for the 3-2s and could not find any for Holleys. I had 3 singles so I made 2 doubles by drilling thru the single side, redrilling to .303” and pressing in a 5/16” steel line with a flare bulb. Soldered after pressing using my bench vice as a press. Photos shows a single and the 2 doubles. Photo also shows the PCV on the rear of the center carb adapter. Everything has been polished since the photo. Thanks to a wheel on my drill press and a green bar. E50A1E8B-7BF7-4956-9181-28A9C65A060D.jpeg 78DB5FD6-022C-41AB-BBB4-C4C01E61E657.jpeg

If it’s a “one wire” alternator, pull it and take it back. If it’s not, check the feedback wire. If that’s not connected, you may see the voltage fluctuate like that.

Prepped for a windshield job on m '37

January 17th 2020 Cleaned up the aftermath of the battle of the carriage bolts. Drip tray, siphon and paint arrived for the windshield job. The drip tray has a corrugated bottom. That's a bonus. I won't have to fashion stand-offs for the submerged parts. Still waiting on Evapo-Rust. In the mean time I'll be removing parts of the drive train and some other, between the frame rails, items. I was wrong about the running board supports being bolted. They are riveted. I must've been having a senior moment. They are sharp on the ends and I've been collecting bubble wrap to encase them. A person could get a bad gash and I'm just the man for the job.

Fabbed and installed hidden hood hold downs, on friends 32. It was fresh out of Mitch Kim's shop, getting striped and lettered. It will be in the GNRS next week. IMG_3824.JPG IMG_3825.JPG

Just got in from thawing the ice off my wife's daily and put up a canopy over it with hope that when she has to go to work in the morning it won't be a as big of a task. I hate this ice storm.

  24. I looked at these photos a few dozen times, thinking if I pulled money out of 2 different accounts it wouldn't seem to be as much...lol
In reality I have no room for it and I'm not one of those "it's only real if it's steel" kind of guys, but I do think it's a cool looking old hot rod

  27. Yeah I was thinking why the jag too, it said it was a new chassis, I think he had a flathead on hand and stuck it in there and the rest of the parts were from the original car ?

Had a rolling 3/4 ton truck frame dropped off for my beater truck, its presently a half ton and the frame has holes where the rear bumper and trailer hitch bolts so time to upgrade. Going to look for a nice bed and front fenders so my beater truck will turn into a nice truck, since I have a very nice cab with working a/c and all I can find around here is junk so time to build a truck.
