I bought this car 10 years ago with 327 on it and decided to put a flat head end it this winter. Finally got to taking out the 327 Flathead should be ready by March. Looking for Ideas to improve on this beat up firewall.g
Doing the Lord's work removing that weird French engine and putting the flatty back in. Haha Looks like a nice car. Good luck.
E xcellent another flathead 34. What is under the tin that covers the original firewall? If you drill out the (what appears to be rivets) and the original is still there, albeit, with a hole cut for the SBC distributor, you have a good start. I can get you a 35/6 recess that should cover, as It’s wider than the 34 recess Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
you will be disappointed by the flatheads very low power. Its traditional to replace the flathead with a SBC
I am not sure exactly what I will find when I wired th car 10 years ago the original SEEMED to be intact but then i wasn’t lookin at with the ideas of taking the stainless off. I just might take you up in that recess. Let me know what you want for it.Sometimes it’s best to start with a clean slate.
I will be probably the most disappointed flathead guy around my town- spending to cash for a blower on it too
Thanks I am looking for a fire wall for this any help is appreciated I will be posting on the want ad pages too
Well thats a Role reversal! Cool Though! Just be prepared to cruise along mellow yellow! Unless you pump the hell out of it, supercharge, bore, stroke, jet fuel it! Awesome!
The flatly is going together now being built by a local racing engine shop who just finished the same build a couple of years ago.It will come back with a dino sheet then just going to drop it in ,like it ever goes that easy, and hope to drive it before next summer is gone.Or summer of 2021...actually need to get something done with this fire wall
congrats on doing it right, ya won't be disappointed with a blown Flatty, gear it right and have fun........ and besides the 34 is the finest Ford ever produced IMHO
DDDenny, why put a chev in it in the first place ? Cookie cutter..... I knew a guy who put a 289 in a 37 chev....now that was cool.....
Ignore the naysayers. Glad to see a traditional early hot rod. Plenty of power. I’ve watched a lot of small block Chevy powered cars from my rear view mirror.
