Are you sure it is a fuel problem?

A man much wiser than me once told me "Boy, if you think the problem is fuel then its ignition,if you think its ignition then your problem is fuel"

One down one to go. We got the sedan buttoned up and now to put the new motor into the roadster. I will update as we make progress.

Got the newly rebuilt engine in and took off fenders. Won’t take much to finish up.

I finally got it running. After disassembling and assembling about a dozen times, I was having problems getting the jets to bottom out in the chambers, so I cleaned up the threads for the jets with a 1/2–27 tap. I also resurfaced all the flanges. It may have been sucking air between the throttle and the bowl. It may have been a tiny piece of dirt stuck somewhere, I really don’t know what was wrong.

So you grind through the sandblasting, body work and paint, the steam cleaning of the chassis, the days where you work all day and cant see what you did..working like a fool to get to this point, clean work finish assembly.Only to find out you do each process three or four times till your satisfied..

First time ever to be ahead of schedule on a car project. Picked up the new engine from Joe at Turlock machine on Jan 4th. Drove all day on the 5th. Got the engine in and 90% done on the 6th. Finished up and running early the next morning. New engine is a B block with late counterweighted "C" crank, TM aluminum rods, 283 Chev pistons, inserted crank and rod bearings with full pressure, Dan Price Cragar with dual Stromberg 97's, FSI ignition, Red's header split into two pipes and mufflers running all the way to the back. Hooked into an F150 27% OD trans, 3.78 rear. Its a sweet combination and its good to have all of my old cars up and running. IMG_3867.jpg IMG_3872.jpg IMG_3875.jpg

Are broken valve springs common in Model A/B engines? I'm digging into a Model B engine and this is my first look inside a Model A/B (years of experience with more modern overhead V-8's). No. 1 intake had the top approx 1 coil broken. No. 4 intake both had the bottom 1 1/2 coils broken. Engine is out of a truck. Had sat for some time (undercover and out of the weather). Got it running quite easy and it ran well (on a test stand).

It’s a Thomas head. 7:1. I can’t wait to see how it runs. My buddy Larry has wanting to beat my coupe. He had called me out for a race at the dirt drags. I think he should be able to do it with this motor set up.

got the oil pan off the engine that I did the crack repair on going to clean things up.. That was a bigger project than it sounds like. I had to get the engine stand off of the container. Well that takes the forklift. It blew a tilt cylinder so I had to rebuild it before I could lift the engine to put it on the stand ...had snow last night and it is blowing 40 to 45 with gusts of 65 to 70 mph....I can park outside with the window rolled down and my arm hanging out and think I'm doing pretty good time

Wow. That is a shockingly beautiful ride. I love all the details. Raw brass tank, and overflow, engine turned firewall, and the entire motor. Just awesome.

We got Larry’s roadster started yesterday. The Gear Drive header sounds awesome. A few things to button up and then it’s time to put some miles on her. Too bad it’s the middle of winter right now and warmish days are not too common.

  26. Nice job binger. I did my motor transplant in Dec. because I didn't want to have much downtime. Now here I set after an ice/snow storm with salt over all over the roads and future highs only in the 20's waiting for better weather.

I've seen copper plating on unmachined sections of cams, think it has something to do with heat treating. Bob
