That is possible although I am not sure this one had a Z-11. Ron Reader who owned Midwest Auto and had a 57 Vette with 389s and 421 Pontiacs with cams from George DeLorean told me there were several other 57 Vettes on Woodward in 63/64 with W motors. He told me Dan Elkins had one with a blue printed 409 that ran well and Kenny Fournier had one with a 409. Tony Donnigan had one with a Z-11 but Ron said it was not the strongest performer of the group.

There is one still around and the owner has come to a couple of our club meetings. I asked him if he wanted to sell it but he did not. Pictures of it are around. One of the guys in our car club put a dual quad 409 in his 57 Vette and he can close the hood and no one knows. It looks pretty stock until he opens the hood. Runs strong and sounds great.

  14. I don't know about the '60s clothes, Steve. I guess you had to be into those "mod" looks. Blue jeans and T-shirts were my normal attire. Nonetheless, that was a great looking hood on the Vette.

I remember Teddy Boschma getting in that car at that time. I seem to remember that he was over 6" tall and was not a small guy. With a helmet on I wonder how comfortable it was for him. I know that with my helmet on and my seat bottom as thin as practical without any seat tracks so it is closest to the floor is a tight fit. It appears his helmet must have been against the hardtop. His headrest appears to be pretty much at neck level.

That picture is probably 68. He ran MSP in 67 and I believe he ran altered in 69.

    Jim,
About that time ('68) a High school friend told me a story about Teddy and his brother. Seems that they actually had 2 Vettes, the one above and a milder version.
The story goes that the brother would set up a street race while cruising Woodward with the street car. When they would meet at the race location, there would be Teddy with the F.I. stacks sticking through the hood.

Sounds like urban legend now, but based on the number of Corvettes that were slinking around the area, it could actually have happened.

Just photo distortion or have the front wheels been moved forward?

LB I believe photo distortion. In a year or so he ran altered and then he may have gotten away with it if he wanted.

Bruce not sure of a milder version, you may be right but I am not familiar with a second car. He called it go-rilla and seemed to move some of the lettering and such.

Pushbar, and hood scoop but no rolbar plus great stance and rear tires. Would love to hear the history on this car. B55CC467-3CB1-4082-8E0B-BCF58CE2FA1A.jpeg.jpg

The kid in the tank top is former(?) NHRA pro stock motor cycle racer Craig Treble, we used to race bmx together. That was the vette’s maiden voyage after a 20 year nap.
