    My good pal Dave’s av8 chassis with a little sheet metal work on the cab, a 371 setup I’m building, and some other stuff 31866865-032F-4D03-9E31-BCFDD6783029.jpeg 6FA5DF19-FD95-414D-B645-7B4DDEEA48E7.jpeg 8EE54F49-D932-403A-8BB1-2ADD5F6662FF.jpeg 45285B4C-904D-4B72-99D3-03DB4CCAEE0E.jpeg 26D45813-1170-439E-8570-F6F17F34E7FD.jpeg 67CF928D-7CE2-4836-9575-50078B71CA13.jpeg A1C2E382-5781-437F-BEAE-9A8CCA212BE0.jpeg F18C722E-F6AD-45FD-A9D7-2C080DE78685.jpeg 2C8F4772-8A77-486B-95F2-7DC1516697E7.jpeg CD016D52-8DCA-4F13-ABEF-90D90A407F35.jpeg 355F3575-F9DB-4EAB-BAA7-CAD6233C0A00.jpeg 347F38D8-41D4-4464-B7AC-CE2F0D9AB3FF.jpeg 714B5D2B-A501-45FE-882A-B1F0AFF889C9.jpeg 49388364-5A84-4DD2-A390-424E8342CB27.jpeg AEA85345-A721-46A1-BEB1-50FAD53A2A2A.jpeg 38A38CF2-9BB4-46F2-992E-FF9484D03E78.jpeg 49B7EB45-2692-4668-BC9E-D372C65D527D.jpeg 231AD32A-D65E-48CE-97B1-DE67AC6732DC.jpeg E0CCD229-E5B7-41A4-8D36-A20E340B4490.jpeg 14C0F0B8-FC56-46BA-BA5D-E8C8F3254F49.jpeg 3F9B18B2-1EB5-4C62-8976-782A92BE940D.jpeg

Great work ! A couple questions, what is the center crossmember I see you are using with the drop for the early tansmission? Also , why the brake backing plat modifications?
    Thanks

That reminds me, there's a guy in Pottsville with a few flathead blocks, heads, cranks, if you're looking for spares. I think he said he wanted $50 block

Haha yes indeed we used up some serious luck that day!
Here’s a few before and in progress, still chipping away at it occasionally. These pics make it difficult to tell but I chopped it harder that it was in the first pic here when I got it. This car belonged to a good friend of mine, a hamb member who has since passed, it won’t be leaving my possession until my time comes. Even though it needed/needs a ton of work I am fortunate and thankful to have it. Whenever it eventually does hit the road he goes wherever I go. 279AD87A-240C-4B1C-BE52-4195DF789EA9.jpeg 65267FB5-4DD7-4FA3-BDFF-8C4ECC79A502.jpeg D78CFA93-5B0D-4943-9F7D-AEBBF38013B8.jpeg 80E34C00-B38B-43D0-8C16-66BB7BAA8F48.jpeg C21F74B8-BE48-457C-93C6-E57C47D5D2D6.jpeg 3D24F48B-FB9A-40FA-8F1B-B870F30BF549.jpeg F0F9FC51-7CCE-44DF-9855-D62B370FB96F.jpeg

This one? It’s a 42-52 ford 1/2 ton pickup center crossmember, with added rear legs we built.

That’s a pic of a Lockheed 12” backing plate modified to be self energizing/self adjusting.

Just something we do here at the shop, I built a jig and we started dropping them several years ago. Nothing beats an old ford axle!

    Wow !
That was interesting, thanks for posting such a variation.
I am especially intrigued by the dropped axles.
Any chance of seeing pictures of your jigs, and actual progress photos of one being dropped ?

How many inches was the final chop, & do you have any in process photos that you would care to share? Bill

Sorry that's all I have, and I'm not really sure what the total chop was as it was already cut when I got it. I just kept cutting until it looked right to me. I have another stock height 3w that I could measure from if I get a chance I will check it.

Your photo dump is going to take away just as much time, Andy! Haha.

Stellar work, man! I'll be in touch about the 32 heavy we messaged about. I just need to see if I need the drop or not.

Cranking out all that great work I can see why you haven’t got time to post often. Just amazing. Thanks for the update.
Love that little pickup. I’ve got a similar one going together in my shop, makes me want to pick up the pace and get it back on the road. Thanks.
