I thought all the differential fluid leaked out of my banjo rear end, and I thought I had to reseal it. But when I pulled the drain plug, I had plenty of fluid in it. I know I sound like a wuss, but, I now hate the smell of it on my hands. It just doesn't go away! So I was wondering what other things people hate about this hobby?

Yeah diff fluid is a bad one. I'll think about what I don't like about the hobby a little more so I don't say something I might regret...

  5. How the word "vintage" makes the part i need cost twice as much lol

  6. Buying an old car (for instance an 80 yr old 40' Ford) and having to pay state sales tax on it yet again even though the state has collected sales tax on it several times over the long run through its various ownership changes..then hagling over what you actually paid vs what they claim its value is.

  13. Attitudes from the younger guys. The older I get the less critical I am of other people’s tastes, abilities and cars in general. I compliment what I like and keep my mouth shut about what I don’t.

    Hope it catches on.

Gear oil just on you hands? Wait until you pull a manual trans while laying under the rig and up end it and dump six pints of old gear oil on your chest and feel it move around to your back. That shirt and pair of pants didn't make it into the house.
I'd have to say that the actual thing that I hate most and maybe the thing that made me drop out of the hot rod thing for several years is unsolicited advice on how I should build my ride or what parts I should use.
I see that crap here all the time in that someone asks a question about a certain piece and how to use it and some clown comes along and says "oh no you have to use this______ " because they dream of using "this_____" even though it is not affordable to anyone who doesn't make a hundred bucks an hour.
I don't have any issue with someone who says that one's plans for something aren't safe when they give a sold reason why they aren't safe though. It's better to tell someone that his plans for his ride aren't safe than sit here and figure out what we are going to write for an eulogy later.

As in body block sanding? That is the most enjoyable thing in any build or restoration. Bob

Rusty Dusty, I guess I’m crazy.....because I like the electrical part of it. I love to build new circuits, chase problems, design new stuff to solve problems. It’s just me.
When I was working, my helper said “ you ain’t right..... you smile when a truck comes in with electrical problem!“ I guess it takes all kinds! Lol

    PS: I don’t like sanding!

I feel blessed to be able to play with cars, especially after 3 heart attacks and a brain bleed. I can't think of anything I dislike about our hobby. I enjoy every minute of it, especially the large (and sometimes dysfunctional but in a good way) family known as the HAMB.

I understand your viewpoint.....when it is called a “sales” tax. It is more correctly a “transaction tax”. It is not the specific item that is being taxed, but the amount of money involved in the transaction (aka ‘sale’). It doesn’t matter what is being sold/transacted, only that is a taxable exchange. I am not defending the process, only offering a different way to view it. Don’t “kill the messenger”..:D
