I'm new here so I hope this subject isn't against protocol but I just received a letter stating that Street Rodder magazine has been discontinued. They are offering a streaming subscription to replace the almost 1 year of SR still due me. I don't know about you guys but SR was one of my favorite car magazines. Great photos and good tech tips. I'm sorry to see it go.

PS: Any recommendations for any other good hot rod/custom car rags? I'm not into the online magazines.

No- if you are not into online magazines you are going to be disappointed.
In a instantaneous world - your new magazine that you use to read in the can is now your smart phone or your Ipad.
    Get use to it.

You came here for your Hot Rod - Custom Car fix didn't ya ?

As a guy working for one of those “disappointing” magazines, I can say that there are actually a number of really good independent publications available covering traditional hot rods, customs, vintage racing...you name it. Read a couple of the other threads and you’ll see a bunch of suggestions for some good reads.

It is another sign of peoples interests simply changing in what they want to read.
I do not like seeing this happening but there is nothing I can do about it so it's the part of life I do not like.

Every year the folks that love old cars and other old things gets smaller and I believe this will continue in the future.

    Just my opinion. Jimbo

Corporate thinking on Ten's part. Harvard business school training prevails in this. I'll bet there wasn't a true gearhead in the decision process to end SR.

I re-subscribed in august for 4 mags for 2yrs each. Most would come on same day. I'm sure our mail delivery person hated me. But i was like Steve Martin in the jerk. Only instead of phone book ,It was the new hot rod books are here, the new hot rod books are here. Just sucks!!! I would load up on car mags when we went to beach. Set under tent, cooler close by, listen to old rock and roll ,look at girls, read hot rod books.

Looks like I’ll be installing a computer in the shit-house. That’s where I like to read.

032.jpg I must say it's probably been at least ten years or so since I bought Street Rodder but still have all my old ones.

Yeah, it sucks ,but honestly I'd rather see what folks are doing here anyway. Best of all you can take your phone to the shit house. Maybe that makes me part of the problem.

Guess I am glad I found out why I have not received a print issue in the past year (and the last year of my subscription). I did not receive any notice from them in print or mail - the mag just stopped coming.

Guess this will be yet another place I can save money as this was the only Mag I actually paid for and since work keeps me parked in front of a screen for 12 plus hours a day I just don't have time or interest in online mags. I don't even have time to read my trade publication on line and my 62 year old eyes just can't take the strain of trying to read publications on my phone.

My late father would have been devastated by this as he was the kind that subscribed to just about every car mag published.

I may have to learn how to use the phone to be online while driving - seems that is the only to read publications these days

The thing I liked about Street Rodder was the plethora of advertisers
that could be referenced and pursued as the need for parts information
    would arise.

  30. Is that a polite way of saying it went from a how to magazine to a parts catalog?
