HaHa I know that pile AKA "The picture whore"
It looks good in pics, then once you see it in person you'll be like "What a mess"
Thanks for posting it up though. I still dig it. Glad others can appreciate it and the ugliness of a 59 Ford.

Owned and built by Rick Coast of Denver, ColoRODo about 10-12 years ago...most of the car is '48 Chevy Aerosedan...and that kustom is currently being re-done by Rick...

Restyled in 1960, the front fenders on John's Ford were extended 5 inches. The grille cavity was frenched and fitted with a tube bar grille. It featured rolled pans front and back. The front pan incorporated scoops. Scoops were also added to the front fenders.

The body was nosed, decked and shaved for door handles, and the gas filler cap was moved into the trunk. The taillights were frenched using 1959 Buick components. The rear quarter panel featured dual frenched aerials and it ran molded in lakes pipes. The build was finished in a wild red color, done in enamel due to the weather.

It was dressed up with pinstriping, Appleton spotlights, frosted Plexi-glass plates over the headlights, mag wheels and rear nerf bar type bumpers. Under the hood, everything removable was chromed.
Once completed, the car was shown under the name "Beach Boy" in Canada and the USA. It was also featured in several magazines"

  12. This car sat in the bush about 20 miles north of me for years, next to a 60 Olds convert. When I saw it, a lot of the chrome under the hood was gone and it had a Thunderbolt teardrop fiberglassed to the hood. No interior or rug probably save the floorpans, as they were way better than what you would expect for a field car. It still had a Yblock in it with an Offy dual quad intake, but no valve covers or carbs. Sad to see what was once a beautiful car gone to crap.

Love the grill treatment. He was really brave to change out the stock grill.

This, I don't remember seeing this '55 before. Ya gotta love the tail light treatment. Almost makes me want my '55 Back.

Yes it is rare, I saw the pics and had to share them. If I owned one it would be hard not to chop it. But this Merc is proof ya don't have to be chopped to be kool.

  24. There is nothing "Kool" about the stock roof line on a 39/40 Merc. :D How you can design such a beautiful car and then stick that afterthought on top is beyond me hat wearers or not.o_O

Lol! I agree with ya 98% But 2% of me thinking it would be kool to drive the non chopped one to a Kustom '39 '40 Merc convention.

Way too kool, Yes they should all be chopped.....

  29. thats my line of thinking. From the b post forward is good stock but the back half just doesnt work in my book, the chop usually helps get the flow it needs.
