Swung by Desert Valley North on Sat. and they are moving the whole Phoenix operation about 50 miles North! They are moving about 5000 cars, their entire parts inventory & all.
Guess they have had an attractive offer on their property and the land up in Black Canyon City is priced right.
This will move it out of the Phoenix area and into the snow belt so for you snow birds, it would be much less appealing to visit. :(
Now the North yard is primarily '65 & up but there are a ton of 50's fenders, bumpers, doors, etc on the racks.
I did manage to pick up a couple of goodies.
If you want to look around, they are hauling 8 cars at a crack so you had better do it fast!
Yeh, Valley has an "E" dammit.

Ran into those folks (McClures -spelling?) at a Pheonix swap a few years back and followed up with a visit to that yard.

    Friendly people.

  3. Black Canyon City is about 25 miles north of town, and still below The Rim. No snow still, but less cacti and snakes, maybe.

I'm just glad to see that they are moving the stuff rather than crushing it out. 25 or 50 miles is nothing if you need the parts.

They said that they plan to crush nothing. Scrap prices are so low, it is cheaper to land fill it!

Spent half a day there looking around on my 1st States trip 17 years ago.
Would have to be the hottest day I have ever experienced (August) in my life.

These are the same guys that have thier other yard in casa grande right?

  9. Black Canyon does get SNOW ! But it doesn't stick around like Flag or Prescott. Still snow on the hill tops from a few days ago but it has been cool.

And YES there is PLENTY of snakes/cactus and other things that will either stick you, poke you, or bite you !

Also was told that there will be a yard on 23rd ave/Williams the old FRED's yard

    Yes it is.......

It would seem that I was mislead. Bummer. Glad I saved some parts when I did.
Or maybe they are sharp enough to know that this would get the wankers off their duffs?

Just imagine the cost of moving all those cars that aren't crushed.
