Technical Suggestions for front signal lights for my 1935 Ford

Here are some Ford factory park lights on a 41 1.5 ton. Fit into the head light stands and we bought new ones from a supplier ( Mac's, Drake, ???). Easy to make into t/s.

 

Here is my '33 with little black ones I found on EBAY.Made brackets that attach to the bumper bkts.

 

I had run what I believed were motorcycle turn signal/parking lights on the 38 Chevy and they worked great, but I wasn't too keen on the amber lens/squarish shape. I needed TS/PL for the Studebaker and wanted something that would fit into the corner of the grill so I stole the signals off of the 38 and out of four Studebaker Hawk lights (Guide B 31) I was able to clean up a pair of them, fitted new wiring and amber bulbs and installed them. Very happy and it's a more vintage look than what I had.

 

I just stick my arm out the window and they always let ya in, old daily driven coupes make people happy.....

 

Or floor it and squeeze in.....

Remember you are not always directly opposite when you are turning so lights that are semi hidden can be just that. And not all the numbskulls on the road understand old cars , the numbskulls expect turn signals even if they have both eyes closed.
It’s totally pointless in fitting turn signals that can “probably” be seen .
In my opinion these Guide type turns fill the bill and look like they belong on a 35. Just fit an orange LED bulb and call it done. There are other shapes of add on turn signals that will fit your present head lights. had a buddy that just added some to 36 light buckets on his model A coupe.

 

I've been considering these three new options until I can get proper Guide B 31 lights. I'm thinking Type B .

 

Of those choices, I'd recommend B. Might consider painting them black.

I dont intend to replace or modify my headlights. Only add a parking/signal light .

 

I added the lens from BLC 904 lights to my stock '35 headlight buckets. I used the LED version of a #94 bulb and they are pretty bright. For the most part I worry more about the guy behind me.

 

Good choice in B ,type C is plain butt ugly.

 

Is this BLC 904 light available new ? If so where ? I wouldn't mind adding something small like that to my bucket. That looks smooth.

 

Interesting ideas, I have some problems with my electrical working and use hand signals, people wave at me and have no idea what hand signals mean. I am living dangerously!

since you are using a bumper find a old set of BLC or Guide fog lights and wire them up as turn signals. HRP

Do a Google search for "motorcycle front fender lights", like the link below, for another possible option to the suggested posts. These can be mounted on the headlight buckets or the fenders. Some are the real deal, old stuff and some are new but look right. Ignore the tacky junk. There are similar old, surface mount boat, airplane, and truck marker lights that you can search up.

1934 Cowl lights converted for turn signal, keeps them in the family.

 

Those 904 park light lens are kinda scarce; they were originally held in the headlight bucket with a steel garter spring which rusts away and the lens falls out. I made some molds of an original glass lens and cast the ones on my car out of resin.

Those Guide B31 or the '34 cowl light in the earlier posts would be my choice if I was running a bumper. Main reason, they are real car parts; more appropriate than modern street rod accessory or 'bike lights.

 

I used Ron Francis Brite Lights on my 38. Painted the bezels to match the body color. Lights are very bright and effective.

 

Personally your ride looks fine without. Most if not all that adapt any lights on front look goofy. And most aftermarket lights look like they belong on a toy bike. Takes away from clean lines.

 

These get used alot on cars , personally I don't care for them more of a street rod item...but if they work for ya great...if ya got a street rod ..perfect.
These are interesting...instead of putting them on the fender lip maybe use just the head and mount it down on the bumper.
Of course if you get something too small and compact they can get over looked then there not good for anything.
Or just say the hell with being discreet and mount a pair of these blinking arrows out front for all to see and understand there purpose...or screw with them and have one pointing up and the other down...

I agree but it's not a "Looks" issue but a safety issue. If you haven't driven in NYC you wouldn't understand. All this work to build a car and possibly have an honest and understandable mistake ruin all my work or get someone hurt. No thanks.

Harley turn signal lights, housing painted with optional chrome trim ring and smoked lens instead of the orange one. Mounted on headlight mounting bolt here but have a stud that could be mounted anywhere. one advantage up here in Canada is they are DOT approved.
