  1. One of those sellers remorse moments... 20170525_205637.jpg

  2. My son and I will be getting back on his 63 soon. He will get his drivers permit in a couple weeks and thinks he needs to drive my 66 until we get his going. Talk about motivation! I think we will try to finish building the motor and swap out all the suspension for the five lug stuff before the end of the year.

  3. That is my goal, get the frame and axle work done in Dec. Then move the cab to the shop in Jan. hoping to have a solid roller by spring. I have been collecting parts for a while so I have 80 percent of it here waiting. Scored a 454 with th400 this summer. : giddy

  6. Making a mess now...swapping to a later crossmember with five-lug and disk brakes. I have always heard this was an easy bolt in deal and will verify shortly.

  8. I haven’t but have had friends that have. I have had them stuck in my hand before. My 15 year old know-it-all son has to learn everything the hard way though too if you know what I mean.

  9. I'm going to do the same thing to mine, I have a 72 doner frame with 5 lug power disc. Was told that you will need to drill 2 holes and clearance 2 holes to do the swap.

My daily driver 66. It was given to me by a family friend. It sat for 5 years. $250 later it's a dependable daily 20191113_172020.jpg

street but with a 6 point roll bar.

very easy swap, did it years ago and only drilled two holes other wise bolt in. i used one from a mid to late 70's truck.

  15. I am getting closer to it. Only 2 more projects in front of it, literally [IMG]

Love this thread. Got the 15 year old learning the skills on the 66, been a very very rewarding project to get it back on the road for his high school ride. Spot n cool n spot n cool, stitching up all the gaps in patch panels till they’re all filled up. Great way to let them learn by stepping back & overseeing after showing them how & coaching them thru the build process. Just a few more months....... Kudos to you for taking the time. I hear how kids these days dont like to work on cars I suspect a large percentage of this is due to the fact that us adults dont want to take the time to show them or have the patients to school them. Keep it up brother.

Update only one more project in front of my 64!!!

  22. I own and have owned dozens of the 60 thru 66 trucks. And the heater sucks. especially the 64 thru 66 trucks. The air is drawn from the cowl thru the heater core and even when new they didn't work very good. Having a 160 or 180 thermostat didn't help. My dad bought a new 64 and on a 20 degree day it wouldn't defrost the windshield. What I do is put duct tape over the cowl vents. and open the passenger side vent. That way the already heated air is recirculated . and use a 195 degree thermostat. I have a van that has a second heater core and fan under a rear seat. I think I will install it in my wifes 66 C20.

  23. Merry Christmas to all the C10 junkies.
It christmas morning and I am drinking my coffee watching a Joe Kenda marathon Pat is in the bathroom doing her morning thing and the granddaughter is still asleep. Soon we will gather and open presents and all will be well with the world for a few brief moments. The sweet potato pie and strawberry cake are ready the ham is in the oven as are the rest of the fixings.
And all I am thinking about is clearing all of the christmas project leftovers from my shop and giving it a head to toe cleaning so I can finally get my C10 frame in and start on it. Merry Christmas all!
