What is that? It is both old and new to me at the same time. Hope we can get back to a bit of real styling in today's automotive designs.

 

This is Kent Jonssons 1934 Ford roadster,that he and a couple of friends
did some "work" on.Do a Google search on Dreamster ,and you will get a ton of info.

Not sure what that is, but the wheelbase looks to be incredibly long.

 

1933/34 Coupe or Cabriolet with doors welded shut. You are correct I believe in the Channel makes it look longer and the front axle is probably forward a couple of inches...There was so many things going on back then an they keep coming out of the woodwork...

 

I still think it's pretty amazing that the photo that my grandpa had and one that somebody posted on that thread look to be taken with the car in the exact same place.

Sure wish Gramps was still around so I could ask him more about it. It's his birthday today and he would have been 96 today.

 

That thing would be hard to get in with the top up!

 

Stogy, keep posting these great pics. Love this thread. The roadster is still running the Cad/Lasalle flathead in this pic. Not sure whether it was the 322 or 346.

 

Yes in the case of many of these rare birds there is one pic barely focused or none but this Hotrod was somewhat well documented...and the fact that your Grandpa had a pretty up close and personal relationship with it and the people makes it overwhelmingly more special. Thanks for chiming in TWK...that Hotrod is a natural for this thread...and I never tire of seeing it...and please continue to share the oddball Hotrod history here as you come across it...

 

Even without the top Hotrods like this pose a pretty challenging and interesting entry...I suspect many a seat ended up tattered prematurely due to shoe and possibly shoeless stress.

The wave or rolled upholstery covering was dual purpose...nut protection and covering possible crudely hacked off Roof edges. It looked pretty cool too and was that common on boats back in the day?

Stogy, my August 1953 Honk has it on cover and an article about it which says 1938 Lasalle engine. That's Max Balchowsky's dog in the car.

...so I was reading up on this interested in the @TWKundrat connection I have concluded his Gramps was Powell Dickerson and a Pic in his Gramps collection was a period one of Jimmy Summers Roadster...

They may have in fact all new each other...maybe TW might help make that connection...One thing is certain, they, the Hotrods and Comradery were there...

I'm going out on a limb and guess that that's Max B. In the pics above...

Yep, that's Max.

 

Love that pic, I believe that “The Okamura Bro’s” (Yam Oka) owned that 32 just before Max Balchowski owned it. look Closely @ that Cad Mill, Those are Cyclone Cad heads. Max was a regular at Cook’s Machine Works whether it was personal or studio work needed.
22 years ago,George Bentley stopped in and related many kool stories re: Max and his adventures.

Those fellas Knew the Ropes of Hotrod Racing and Styling...Art I Say...
The Wheel Wells Modded for body roll...2 sets of Custom Fenders...

I love the fit around that shell with the bar and other details nicely worked tidily complimenting each other...and I'm smiling at those Rad Hoses that had some members grabbing Buckets to heave in, in a Thread not so long ago...Oh the Horror......they truly look ALL Hotrod don't they?...Maybe that's why Max has that face on someone said something about those dang ugly hoses...

Sorry I thought of that Thread as soon as I posted that pic...I didn't buy the negative press they got...They are certainly welcome here no flak what so ever...just like apple pie to me...

 

Since we're hosting this cool racing roadster I was thinking of this one and it was really cool to see these on those road rallys giving the modern racers a run for the money...

...interesting story and a pretty cool Hotrodded Pickup used for hillclimbs and racing support owned by Lex Dupont.

I used to know and purchased some Harley parts from a Former Henderson/Indian Cycle Cop/Police Chief who knew Lex and the Dupont Family so it lit some old memories, but I never knew he was a Hotrodder...

This gem is up for sale not too far away...

 

Is it yours yet, nudge, nudge wink, wink...albiet meeting you in person for you and even myself it might be restrictive for comfortable seating...it looks like a fun ride however and thinking back a page or two there was a really nice Hemi powered one from the early to mid 60s in a Peterson/Hotrod event.

These primitive Banger Rods have a lot of appeal too...and are well suited for the wild blue yonder your way...

So Hambers how do 6'+ Gentlemen......I mean Hoodlums fit in these Roadster Pickups?...I'm challenged even in the A Sport Coupe...
