Customs I've made a decision ('47 Ford Coupe)

Well folks here is what it will become, this was a hard choice to make but with the help of the HAMB I feel more comfortable to start the process, so here it is....

Madfish slanted the "B" pillar for me tonight and that was what did it.

The slanted B pillar makes it look a bit like a mopar of the same era.I like it.

 

I liked the old look but this look is really nice.. Now get busy....

The straight "B" pillars always looked like a poor design to me in the back of my mind, and I always liked the Chevy and Mopar slanted ones, you see them on chopped Ford's but not the unchopped ones. BigO

I like the look for sure! The slanted b pillars really do make a big difference.

 

I recommend rounding off the door corner when you get to the post mods. Here's a pic of my mopar for example.

 

I don't know what took me so long to f....n think of it....

Big O, I’m happy you made a decision. I know it can tough sometimes to commit to a different style. Make it how you like it and you’ll never go wrong.

I don't think there was a bad choice in the options you presented.

 

I started building cars in 1975 at the age of 15, the first was a '65 Fairlane Sports Coupe that was excepted in a 4A class show in Charlotte, NC in 1981 and received an award of 3rd place in my class and have built cars that have been in mags over the years, I enjoy metal work, I am a goldsmith so metalwork and design is what I've done for the past 43 years so leaning the B pillars forward and reworking the 1/4 windows will be fun, I guess what I'm getting at is I'm not new this Hot Rod and Custom thing, once the Holidays are over I'll post some of my cars from over the years. Thanks Jim, I've always wanted a 40's custom but the look of the hot rod version sent me down a side road, thank goodness I turned around. Here's a pic of a custom '39 Chevy coupe I had going but had to sell but may be getting it back.

Rounding the corner was part of the way it was done.I did my 47 Mercury like that about 1974.I still have the car. Got it in 1967

 

@BigO I like the version you have chosen with the slanted post. However, maybe you could get the photoshop guys to take the hump out above the rear glass. Even if you are not planning to chop the front, I think the look could be improved on by laying the back glass down a little & shortening (& lowering) the roof between the back of the door & the back window. Wouldn't take much to make it flow better. Yes, I realize the work involved versus the result, but photoshop chopping gives you a great tool to see "what if..."
