I hope you heal up faster than ever! Winter is for working on hot rods.

  5. I have a list of things to do on my coupe this winter but I seem to keep driving it! Was high 20s today with clear roads so I fired it up and drove around a bit...stopped at the store to get a fresh supply of diet DR Pepper and pulled it back in the garage......supposed to be mid 40s tomorrow afternoon so I see another cruise around my area.

Walked the dog to the auto parts store, got contact cleaner to fix a misfire in my daily. Got home, found out I needed a t20 torx bit. Walked the dog back to the auto parts, got the bit. Didn't fix the misfire. Rubbed out my new paint job for awhile to think about it. Found a bad spark plug in the daily. Walked the dog back to the auto parts for a new plug. Problem solved.

Didn't get a lot done but the dog was damn happy.

Managers are like diapers, they need to be changed often - usually for the same reason.

Tested my Chevy transmission and it did finally shift into second but that was it!
I ran a new vac line directly from intake manifold to the transmission and hope to test that today if the weather clears up.!:D
A buddy at the club meeting last night said to put on jack stands and run in reverse for 10 minutes or more to hopefully blow whatever is clogging the shift into the pan. If that fixes it, change oil in transmission and you are good to go.;)
I'm hoping that is all it is.
Fingers starting to cramp from staying crossed so long!:D:D

  15. Finally got around to rebuilding rotted subrails on my 1930 CC pickup. Brought this home 17 years ago, been collecting parts ever since. Thank goodness I still had a portion of the old ones to take measurements from 424C023A-0C45-4F2F-A220-10B2BD8B4FAE.jpeg 4B2BFF81-90FD-400D-A5CF-B8CF60AEF21C.jpeg ABE18EC4-F75A-41A2-8BC4-9DFB07F52FB1.jpeg B8FD9EF6-78F1-4B1F-8EE5-C39C9F68AAAC.jpeg C8463BAB-E4EF-4BEE-AEF6-3F3B60C1430B.jpeg 26EC19EB-0DEE-48CF-84D8-EE7E71098B02.jpeg 35B5D9B6-FEDE-4ABC-ACE6-4CC299B36243.jpeg 4C18CC5B-9A56-42BF-A66D-AA44F4315CD6.jpeg E6D8FCA9-3F75-457D-B7CC-8B4F585E37C7.jpeg 47F2B670-3010-4B80-915B-F71D7E1CFE6A.jpeg CADB9D00-5317-4820-96CE-050691A611D9.jpeg 198CFD26-F086-4258-84DF-9567C7998066.jpeg 8905A47F-2BF8-43E3-93C4-F306202EF63C.jpeg A19B2EA5-49F6-4813-9845-DA7BD8080F18.jpeg 0EF52105-DE3D-485C-95CD-E2F10C3DCE93.jpeg 76F628FF-907E-40E2-B321-7A6572FF5250.jpeg

Started up the Fairlane and moved it under cover for the winter. Didn't want to start with 20° temps and no choke. Had to unhook the electric choke rod from the choke blade so I could manually choke it. (Electric choke not hooked up to work). 20191210_131117.jpg

  21. I put on my new mid mount alternator bracket on the Henry J to see how it lined up, it lined up to the pulleys fantastic but needed about another 1.5 inch clearance to the radiator / tilt front stop bracket, looks like I'll be making a new one of those.

20191213_215723.jpg 20191213_215737.jpg Worked on my 38. Finally fired it up and drove it out of shop and backed it back in. Still have tons of things to do but it felt great hearing it fire up and move under it's own power.

I put together A Salt Spray cabinet today I stopped in the middle-of-the-road and picked up some salt off a pile in the intersection I'm going to test a few coatings that claim to be impervious to road salt, this test won't last long.
