Watched it last night, I agree. Lots of old footage I'd never seen.

The wife and I went and saw it today. I really enjoyed it but I knew who Ken Miles, Phil Remington etc. were before we walked into the theatre. My wife on the other hand tolerates my gear head background and encourages me to do more.

She didn't have a clue about Miles and Shelby or what they all accomplished in a short period of time. It was interesting that at the end of the movie she was all teared up and wanted to know why Miles committed suicide.

Didn't see that coming from her but it sure tells you that even people you know closely can have a total different take on things around them.

The movie is worth seeing guys and Christian Bales pulls off a great Ken Miles.

The distributor is in the right place for a Ford FE. Not sure about the Holley carb with the auto choke set up on it.

Valve cover bolts are in the right place too.

    Probably an FE.

A movie about Briggs Swift Cunningham II would be interesting.

It has a set of those el cheapo chrome valve covers on it- IIRC they are about $45. I have a couple sets to use on my test stand, don't care if they get dinged up

Watched the Shelby America documentary on Netflix with my wife and agree with what has been posted here, it is a "must see" if you have seen the movie. My two sons went to the movie with me but now my wife wants to see the movie so I'll be seeing it again.

Couldnt help but love all the power cars but that 63 ford country squire wag that was Kens family car,
was also real eye candy for me:cool: not counting others....and the falcons on the assembly line was also a reconfigured work of art as well;)

  16. I saw it yesterday with my son. Fantastic film. Christian Bale is great.
I knew that Miles died shortly after the race but my son did not. As I am the same age as Miles and my son is about the same age as his son and my son also loves all the stuff that I am doing, the end was very sad for him (and me as well).

  17. I saw it with my girl friend this past Friday night, think there were 5 of us watching, a sparse crowd. I thought it was pretty good and she liked it too. It was good to see Remington in the film.

A movie about Parnelli Jones during his jalopy racing days would be fantastic. There were so many unique over-the-top charectors within the jalopy drivers ranks that a Hollywood movie would be perfect. The studio would have to buy or build 75 Ford '32 or '34 cars for the purpose of destroying them. The happy ending, Rufus wins the 1963 Indy 500.

"The Turd" in all its glory- Nassau Speed Week, 1964. 427 Cobra Prototype, with an aluminum-block 390, Ken Miles at the wheel

If you liked the movie, I did, and you have Netflix, watch Adam Corrolla's documentary, 24 Hour War, about what really happened. It is fantastic, and has some unbelievable vintage photos, and interviews.

I am very proud to run a genuine Cobra 260 in my roadster that I purchased from Shelby in 1964, it came out of one of his Cobra's & then they replaced the 260's with the new 289's.
Really enjoyed the movie, but Miles should have been the official winner. COBRA MOTOR 1996.jpg COBRA MOTOR 1996.jpg

  25. Well a gun shoot-out with Hells Angels and a beat-down of the Hells Angels leader are pretty dramatic I reckon!!

That receipt is one cool piece of history. Totally agree about Ken Miles, he should have been allowed to win.

  29. Growing up and working in DC and Balt. has jaded me on that type of action/drama. I’ve seen and heard enough to last a lifetime. Hey it’s just an opinion, but I’ll wait for it to come out on cable.
