You are a tough sonofagun to tackle one of these projects but it can be done.
This car I'm showing was from the Calif high dessert paid $35 back in late 60s.
    Built in 1970/71
I did not do the work but the guy who did is still around in Santa Barbara area.

This one will have a filled roof. Next one will have an OG insert, I swear. Chevvie truck hood.

Test fit and mark the hole.

    Tacked.

Lots of hood work this weekend. I bent a strip of 3/8 to add some strength to the bottom of the hood kind of like a '34.

This is a '34 hood top and '33 sides that have been trimmed to fit a '34 grille.

Made a new edge with a bead.

New edge for the top with a 3/16 round lip. Not 100% exactly like an original '33 hood, but I'm not all that picky.

    See ya, -Abone.

Great idea for the Chevy truck hood. Looks like it has a good curve. How did the steel weld? Any difficulties? I've heard stories that new steels don't weld very good, and figure the gauge is thinner than 30's Fords.

I found that one near Barstow, Ca. and dug it out of the sand. I sold it to Lee Hamock of Santa Barbara. He put a 283 in it with stock flathead carb and exhaust. it sounded just like a flathead but ran a hole lot better.

Not a whole lot of action, but I did get the dash figured out. I was never a huge fan of the original dash.

Carved the guts out of it.

Pretty much roughed in. A bit more metal work and she will be ready for bondo.

Will most likely be shiny black someday soon.

    See you next time.

    The headlights finally showed up.

    33mockup2.jpg

This is the last shot before disassembly.

    33mockup1.jpg

    Body off.

    33apart1.jpg

Back down to the bare frame. Block goes to the machine shop, frame gets finish welded and painted, then time for bodywork.

    See you next time, -Abone.

The headlights need to be smaller and mounted higher up though.

The frame is full welded, painted and a roller.

    paintframe1.jpg

A little bit of orange peel, but I don't care. Just a driver.

    paintframe2.jpg

The block is at the machine shop, the grille is on the way to ChromePlater Josh. Next is firewall then bodywork.

    See ya, -Abone.
