  11. Hi Guys hey i hope it is okay to post this, its not relay Traditional, not even 100% pure Hot rod related but maybe some of you guys like it anyway. I am a old Skateboarder and run a webshop with environment friendly products. As some of you know i traveled a long time in my 69 ford econoline and my 74 Ford transit. I crossed 22 states of the USA , whole Mexico, Guatemala, stayed 9 months in Basli and spend some times in Thailand and New Zealand. In this time on the road i realized how big our waste Problem is and swore to my self i gonna change something. So the stuff you see here is all out of trash. The only thing which is new is the glue i use and the Sandpaper:) So guess is this Shiftknobs have a pretty good footprint, besides they look amazing. Well that's what i think. I collect old skate stuff and acrylic scrap and here we go. Nothing new, laminated dash knobs but i cant reinvent the wheel:)

  14. Great work. And the best part is you’re using recycled materials ( sure, they’re mostly old skateboards) and I like it.

I made this for a local auto repair shop owner. It was a surprise birthday present from a friend. As always I’m accepting orders and I can ship. PM me for details.

    Hello,

Since Veteran’s Day has passed, a thought of a military veteran driving an old sports cars for surfing came to mind. My brother’s friend was a Marine and had some interesting stickers on his bumpers to allow him to go through the military gate at Basilone Road leading to the San Onofre surf spot. After serving in active duty, he was on reserve and had access to all military bases on the West Coast.

Those San Onofre surfing road trips were really fun for a teenager. My brother’s friend never wanted to go to Trestles (just up the beach) because his surfing skills were not so great. In the beginning, it was fun surfing a different kind of wave at San Onofre versus Trestles. The closest we got was to park for surfing, was in the Marine Corp vacation buildings at Church Beach, just a short walk to Lower Trestles.

His Marine stickers paid off everytime, it was called beachfront parking, with steps to the waves. He liked the waves here, but not just up the beach. Those days came a year later when my own skills allowed me to surf those faster waves.

    This was episode one:

One of my brother’s friends from high school had this MG Roadster as his daily driver. He tried racing it in the Sports Car Class at Lions Dragstrip in 1959-60 and was not too successful. He really wanted to be in the hot rod world, but he had this thing for sports cars. So, when my brother and his friends all went to Lions and attempted to race their cars, this friend also tagged along and took his little MG sports roadster. He was not very successful.

Sports Car Drag Racing at Lions in 1959-60.

So, many weeks later, he wanted to go surfing locally and asked me to go with him. My first reaction was… “In what car and how are we going to take our 9-10ft. surfboards?” He said not to worry and he was all set to go in his car. I knew he had an MG and wondered how in the world would we take two 9 and 10 foot surfboards in such a little car.

When he pulled up in the driveway, I found out the how… stacked on top of each other, tied to a custom rack he made to fit his small two seat MG roadster. It was sort of a neat way to transport such long and heavy surfboards. A heavy weight down jacket, several towels and we were all warm for the long trip to the beach.

The result of that first excursion in the two seat MG to the local Huntington Beach surf spot was written in a recent HAMB THREAD: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/old-cars-surfing-paradise.1166171/page-2#post-13265499

  22. I did these a few years ago. I need to do a couple more with my 29 coupe and 31 sedan, just because they're fun to do. I really liked those old mags. 2232.jpg 2233.jpg
