Am I going to be the first one to ask about a cross flow radiator with both hoses on the same end?

Or..did I miss this discussion somewhere?

 

It's a dual flow.

 

I figured it was something like that. I wasn't aware of them. I see they are supposed to work better than a standard design cross flow. Please let us know if that's the case.
It's gonna get a workout with that big Pontiac and no shroud and /or electric fan.

 

I have a shroud.......We will see about using it or not. I'm not going to go electric fan. The fan on it isn't factory either. It should move a lot of air........but if need be, I do have a shroud and room.

It may take another 5 years to get everything straightened out after I'm "done".

Getting the headers capped and working on the tilt front end.

 

I think you could get a steel plate and bolt it on top of carb spacers to a tri power intake and build a serviceable blower manifold.

 

I know your feeling. I'm building a Timex, not a Rolex. Don't give a rats ass about trophies or opinions unless educational or constructive.

South East Gassers.... that's where you need to be. Plenty of heads up racing in your back yard. Strict low cost rules. Really kool throw back period cars.

Not really in my back yard but I retire soon and then maybe..............no way will I be able to keep up with some of those guys but it would be fun just to get a couple runs in.

 

Is the frame bending while on stands or the front fender always out of alignment like that? (bottom edge further from door than the top edge)

 

They are just sitting in place in that picture. I'm pretty sure we will never get show car gaps with a tilt front end though.

 

I can tell you that the SEGA have strict rules, but nowhere is low cost a part of the equation. Most of the top runners have $$$$$ or more in their engines alone. the rest of us are just in it for the fun.

 

About time you got back to us with some updates! I thought you fell in and the hogs ate you! That's a beautiful Pontiac ! I hope to make some progress on mine soon. Keep the pics acomin'. Your '56 inspires me to move a little faster on my '55. Thanks.

Sorry I did not get back with you on the Auger mufflers. You can just tack them in place inside the pipe.
You do get a half pound per cube weight break for a Pontiac motor in the Southeast Gassers.

 

Cool, again, not that I would ever be competitive. LOL. Their builds are way beyond mine. I'll still have fun with it.

 

You can join up and get free entry to the races. Get at least 3 passes and then just watch the best gasser show in the country.

 

Front clip is in one piece now. Working on tilt mechanism.

You got that right. Flat out racing is never cheap. I don't care if it's sealed factory crate motor or whatever..The guy with the most disposable income has a distinct advantage.
Some of the guys in Quain's deal can grab .010 or .015 on the tree sometimes, but then what?
On the other hand, big wheelies and grabbin' gears are always fun , no matter the outcome.

 

Should be maybe, hopefully tilting tomorrow.

Interesting mechanism on that tilt front.

 

There will be wheels on the back that will allow you to lift up, pull forward and then tilt.

Mostly just to keep track for future historical purposes. LOL

We replaced the worn out body bushings with solid ones we made. While maybe you can't tell by the pictures, it does sit nicer now. Distributor rebuilt and a locking mechanism for the tilt front was made. (So that it stays open on it's own)

Next the frame to firewall braces which we also need to better mount the radiator to and we will then start it. Hopefully within February sometime.
