  4. Just because we can't do 85 doesn't mean you need to tailgate and flash your high beams!

For a Ford, I'd stick in one of those 1-1/8 balls, hopin it'd break off soon enough;)

Just joshing with you, heck, I even have a few Fords here....I just don't tell my friends;)

Illinios will never let us go that fast. Hell, they don't even let us play with firecrackers.

The guns and bombs sounds like fun but an 85 mph speed limit seems hazardous

Hahaha,a good one... 85 mph is a traffic jam over here. 100mph is cruising. Not unusual to be tailgated and flashed at to move over at 125 mph in the fast lane. Surprisingly we don´t have many high speed crashes on the Autobahn, most happen in Stop and Go or when the driver fell asleep...
That said, I wish my Fords could do even 85, hahaha

They already do 85 on the turnpike between Tulsa and OKC.

  18. The only problem with an 85 mph speed limit is that most drivers tend to overdrive their skill levels.

  19. .....................Love it!:D

  20. The drivers I see don't need to travel that fast to be out of their skill level.

What's the saying? "Don't ban high performance cars. Ban low performance drivers"

  22. What is the saying about Fords..

That 85% are still on the road.. The other 15% actually made it home !

If you can't text at 85 you shouldn't be alive.

A lot of interstates you can't even set your cruse control and they want you to drive faster. 85 and then 20 or less when you hit congestion that seams safe.

The 327 in my 56 loves to cruise at 4500 to 5500 rpm. Of course it will do 7k, but the fun starts at about 4k... The car has 3.36 gears , the cam is 234°/244°@050 with 112° LSA and cr around 11:1. Not a drag racer at all, but really fun to chase late model BMWs. Here´s were the fun begins:

My old 34 Plymouth had a 355, the same cam as the BelAir, 10.5:1 cr and 3.08 gears and a TH350,just like the BelAir. It was a lot of fun at higher speeds too. Two friends of mine, Mike and Damir, were going to a Garage party. I had the GPS plugged in because I didn´t know the place. I was getting annoyed by a slow moving vehicle in front of me, so when I had a chance to pass it, I shifted back to 2nd ,pulled out to pass the car in front of me and floored it. Damir told me the GPS said 187km/h when I shifted into 3rd, that would be around 115mph, I guess. That was on a regular highway, not Autobahn. Funny thing was, I got the best gas milage at speeds between 146 and 170 km/h, when the rpm was over 3500. Still miss that car. My new project 34 Plymouth will be the better version of the old one, I hope. IMG_0074.JPG

85? I don't like slowing down to allow the Ford's and Dodge's to catch up

My F100's a Ford. A '55. I bought it from a salvage yard, it was a theft and had been stripped and pushed down the side of Empire Grade in Santa Cruz!
P.O. had a SBC in it, so when I put it back together, I dropped in a '69 'Vette 350 I had gifted to me. (just to be able to move it while doing custom bodywork on my '53 Vic)
Well? The darned 350 Chevy started and ran so well I left it in for awhile, (78K miles) then, gifted with a Vortek, hopped it up and Darn!
    Another Chevy in there.
My 354 Chrysler hemi was supposed to be in there by now...
What IS a boy to do? Free Chevys...Sheesh!
As far as freeway speeds? Around here, 70 MPH is the limit...Hah! 350 T.H. and 3.0 rear lets me do 85 with relative ease...although engine is 'in the revs'...Sun tach isn't hooked up, so I can only guess. Some on here have the numbers figured out pretty close. 2.55/70 X 15 rears, (remember Tiger Paws?) :D
