Technical Little help with SBC blower

Judging by the "angle", and length of the steering column, I'm guessing it's in a C-1 Corvette? What are the plans?
I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

 

I think you may be correct, I can see a little of the firewall as well, looks like my 59.

 

I'm guessing the M\T valve covers are Chinese knockoffs from the '70s.
The circles are for oil fill or breather/pcv holes, which dates them to '68 or newer, and the backward slash sidestepped copyright infringement laws.

Would be a great blower for a Ford flathead V8.
But of course great on the engine it sitting on right now.

No trim strip on top of the fender, so a single headlight.

 

292 Turbo heads; the original "race heads" from Chevrolet. Had a pair on my RED of the late 80's/early 90's. Angled plugs, big valves and springs, screw-in studs and guide plates. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Sorry I called it a double pumper, didn't notice the vac pod, amazed to see a vacuum secondary carb on top of a blower!

 

Oh, yeah. I will!

 

I do own it. Need to run the vin verification.

 

Do the blower belts have any number left on them, have the same set-up but with a 471 and need to find the correct belts.

Hello,

That set up was/is a very old system. It would be interesting to know the facts in your motor build and what class it actually ran back in those days. NOTE: Most of the “Big Boys” ran with 671 blowers on an SBC for those gas coupes and sedan classes, then, most went to hemi motors.

But, these smaller blowers were good for additional boosts in various other classes. Jess Vandeventer was running what looks like a 3-71 blower. Jess set many national records and won many a national event with this car.

What made me think of it is that under boost there should be zero vacuum under the blower but the vac above the blower should be considerably higher than in a naturally aspirated motor. You play with 'em more than I do so you would know better than I do.

My last blower motor was pretty much a hybrid and in no way HAMB friendly.

 

Honest question, I haven’t played with a roots style blower. Would there be more vacuum above the blower than a naturally aspirated application? Does the blower pull through the carb a significant amount?

The vacuum between the carb and blower depends mostly on how far the throttle blades are open (just like if there were no blower there at all).

The blower mostly makes the engine act "bigger". So, if you get, say, 1" vacuum at wide open throttle on a 327 with a 600 cfm carb, you'll still get about 1" vacuum at WOT on a blown 327 with a 1000 cfm carb, won't you?

 

That was my thought, I just had nothing to base it on. I understand what the blower is doing as far as increasing the amount of air filling the cylinder, just was curious about the vacuum. Thanks Jim

The 2 outside belts are 445S, the middle is a 206K .....Gates.

 

The belt number is 7580. That is a 58 inch long, 7/16 wide belt. You want them all from the same batch, though.

Ustabe you could buy factory-matched pairs of belts. Can a guy buy a factory-matched triple of belts?

Hey Butch... You remember the porting templates in Car Craft magazine for the angle plug turbo heads?????..... I think it came out in '77.... I still have that copy in a box somewhere....

 

They used to sell matched length belts,,,,usually special order .

The matched belts were easy to get back when those big Mopar's were roaming the roads.
