    I run '55 Packard caps on my standard '49 Chevy 5 1/2' rims. There's even enough room left inside for a nut to secure a center bullet, front and rear! (And they fit beneath the skirts. ;))

    Anybody bored? Then how about decking this and ditch bumper guards, with '50 Merc tail lights and '49 Chevy license guard, ? (I always like to keep it affordable and feasible. ;))
    Stage II would be welded fenders, and 40's style recessed plate (set low).

    Hi again, can anyone remove the chrome bird and paint the hood (including the tops of the fenders) semi gloss black (i) up to the swage line above the grill and (ii) beyond? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks, themoose. I can't tell it from the real thing!

    I'm not sure about the inset plate, though it certainly captures the look. Perhaps if it were a tad lower? (Or bumper mounted, with the aforementioned Chevy guard?)
    The taillights could definitely use a healthy drop. Perhaps aligning their top edges with the bottom of the plate?
    Thoughts, anyone?

    I have loved my 10 different Corvairs...

    If I had thought of shortening one, I would have... !!!!

    @Flamed48

    I'm pretty much open to experimenting with anything but I don't get this one. It's like an idea on paper that probably doesn't work in actuality. By shortening the body it means you're bringing the rear drivetrain, engine etc forward as well.
    Then altering the wheel openings, to me, doesn't improve anything for the work involved. But to each his own.

    No reason for back seat to be moved, there is space behind seat.
    & altering the wheel openings ( just moving them up 2 inches ) no biggie..

    do it MADFISH and lower front, lots !!!
