He Christened The Savoy Little Joe And Raced It In A/MP With A 426 Hemi. Sharp Eyes Will Catch The Max Wedge Scoop On The Aluminum Hood And That The Required “exhaust System” Is Intact.
Thanks, cool video. I always seem to appreciate these old videos that bring back good memories. I still watch the NHRA but it is a different animal IMO. I remember when Deloy Naeb's Pooch came up for sale on ebay about 10 years ago. I had just pretty much emptied my cookie jar on another old drag car and a bunch of parts so I watched it sell. The new owner did a really nice job of bringing it back.

Jim, I was able to take my 13 year old grandson to Maple Grove in Sept. for the big boys. He's hooked. Got him a snoot full of nitro and thought his eyes would fall out when the first funny car finally made a full pass.
Doug, it is a good thing to get hooked on IMO. Funny thing is that I got hooked in the mid 60s and am still hooked. At times I think it was a curse but common sense tells me the good memories are worth a ton.

Being it is a B/MP I would guess a hemi also or maybe a 426 wedge. That would be a heavy car. I have seen this picture several times but it is the first time I noticed Jim looking back at the other car.
I wonder what year it was taken? I had noticed the Modified Production class but don't remember all of the class rules and allowances in that class. Depending on the year taken, the 426 wedge may not yet have been available but a 413 sure was. The 2-door version as shown is certainly heavier that a 2-door sedan but not terrible. - EM
That is the “new” Tulsa track and it opened in 1965. I did notice the rear side window has AHRA C/HR it looks like. Tulsa became an AHRA affiliate in 1969 or 70 but this was taken before then because by then he had the 64 sedan. This picture is from Tulsa also.

Chris Lang was local. He would later own the Malco Corvette. I know a few guys that worked on Bagpipes and the Malco Super Vette.
Cayuga 1320 has had several names over the years. Now called Toronto Motor Sports, although it is at least 80 miles from Toronto. It started in the 50's on one of the an abandoned air strips of a WWII pilot training satellite air port. They trained pilots from Canada, the U.S., Australia & New Zealand. Better known to locals as Kolher, I have lived about 15-20 miles away most of my life. The red Anglia in the picture is Zakia & Clarke. I remember it well. Some here may recall a nice red '55 Chevy two door post of Jim Zakia's that has been posted here several times . Fond memories.
I have finally gotten around to scanning a bunch of old photos that I or my friends took from Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion SD or from Cornhusker Raceway Park outside of Omaha NE. I had forgotten how many photos of M/P cars I had, so I will post the H.A.M.B. correct ones over the next few days. Enjoy.
