Thanks Rod. I made a lot of rookie mistakes, and some decisions that Hambers frowned upon, but I think the car will turn out great. I lucked out finding the person who is doing the rebuild. I’m not going to post his full name and website because he’s a one-man operation and I pretty much have him all to myself right now!

More cleaning up some of the smaller pieces (When you’re not a mechanic or fabricator, but you want to help with the build, this is what you do...)!

WELL, I just spent the final hours of the past decade and the wee small hours of the new one thoroughly engrossed in your story! Never had better holiday reading!

@RiffRaffRoadster, i’m imagining you as “The Accidental Hot Rodder”...it was a Happy Accident you got sucked into the H.A.M.B.hole when you did! Your transformation is nearly complete. You might qualify as the “Longest build thread in the shortest time”!

I am very happy for you, your son, and your Dad and his road-star! Rod on !!

More Coca Cola and Foil? Your really making incredible gains on returning the dignity to those parts...:)

A lot of style was designed into those parts like the handles...and the angle of the rad support brackets matching the triangulation for strength and proper seating...

Exciting Year shaping up for you...I'm thinking you might possibly enjoy what your doing so much there might be a door open for a direction/part time in Rod Building or how about customizing your sedan I think it is...not sure where you were on its future but I think your Dad had something on his mind for it...

Look forward to the next update...

Hey Shutter-thanks for the feedback. It’s been a year since I found the HAMB and I did get sucked into it big time. Glad the guys steered me right.

Sorry guys-I way underestimated how much work the body prep is before paint. I thought it would be in paint back in October, but we’re still weeks away. At least Will, the gentleman doing to build, is meticulous. We found a fuel tank and have been fitting that as well. Also getting some smaller parts re-chromed. Here are some updated pics.
Happy New Year to all you HAMBers.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I'd be Damn Proud of that...Good Stuff Riff, and you've got to see the Soul of that Hotrod...Years of Makin' it Cool

I hope an early 50s pic shows up of Your Ride before Your Late Dad acquired it...Just because it would be cool to see...Tank looks great in there...Hey...enjoy the Ride...;)

Always Carry a pic of the Roadster back in the day...someone you meet might recognize it...and have a photo album...

You are doing things right with this car! Another place to meet HAMBers is the Pate Swap Meet at the Texas Motor Speedway

Why did the rear leaf spring go away?

My experience has been that a 32 frame under a 28 or 29 Ford needs to be pinched. Yet pinching a 32 frme under a 30 or 31 body is not necessary. Grag

We tried to salvage both front and rear suspension components to keep car as original as possible, but there were some design issues that made Will, our builder, uncomfortable from a safety and cost of modification/fabrication standpoint. we kept the front as is, but the rear radius arms were angled wrong to provide good stability and the rear spring perches were inverted and not sized correctly, I think if I remember correctly.
