I agree JP. I wish I could find out more about the car. Maybe some guys from Pennsylvania remember the car. Harry ??? was the driver. The Chevy Boys from Washington Pa, were of course different from the Chevy Boys out of Ohio that ran another 62. I believe the picture below is from 1967, but without all of the entry lists for 1967 I cannot confirm it. The picture you refer to is post 68 IMO in that he ran D/A . Not sure why he altered instead of gas-although Gianino and Boschma ran both altered and gas after the NHRA did away with modified sports.. He had to have made some changes I imagine in that a 360hp 62 Vette in stock form could run in D/SP in 68 and 69. Virg. 970 67.jpg

Living on Long Island before Corvettes became investments and numbers matching was a phrase, I saw a lot of this.

Using the 1968 rule book and information from classracerinfo.com it is possible to extrapolate the hp/wt ratio as 8.12 pounds per horsepower. The shipping weight calculates to 2923#, w/o driver, and it would have fit nicely into D/SP that included sports cars with ratios between 8.00 and 8.49.

OK experts this one was in Road & Track back when it was new in at the end of 1956. The question the experts were trying to figure out was about the Fender Flags. They were a decal type thing NOT metal badges and no Fuelie emblem. The 56's had metal flags and the fuelie emblems were stared in 57. They never figured out if it was a 56 trying out the look before making the metal flags or what it was.

The photo gets nice and big for a closer look if you click on it.

If the side of that car advertises Jardine Headers, it belongs to the "Mars Boys," a father-son team here in the San Gabriel Valley. The "Panella Trucking" Anglia needs no introduction.

Here's another pic of mine from a couple of weeks ago. Love this car! I've owned it for 22 years now. 7brent.jpg

  14. "Day two", I like that term. Very nice!
A term used when I was young was ''big block hood''. Generic for any fancy factory hood, regardless of engine. Looks mean on that midyear.

Thanks enloe. I said I've owned my car for 22 years but I've known the car since I was 12. And I'm 63 now. It belonged to a guy in a new neighborhood my family moved into. He owned it for 27 years so I'm closing in! The original owner only kept it for a couple of years. Then the guy that owned it for 27. Then a friend of mine bought it and owned it for a year before I bought it from him. A 4 owner cars in 54 years. Not a record but not bad either. I have the name of the original owner but I've never tried to find him. He might still be around.
