There. I fixed it. And discovered I’d also put a screw into the wiring harness. So I get to fix that too...

We just knew you could do it yourself.
Plus you learned something. As the great Gene Winfield says: Everyday is a school day.

Hahaha, thanks! And, I bought a new tool to fix it with, so BONUS! Everybody needs a propane soldering torch, right?

Soldering torch, a roll of solid core 50/50 solder, a tin of flux, all from the hardware store for less than $50. Winning. Now, I need to be careful where I up those screws....

I worked in a brake repair shop where we would make up new pipes to samples.
Lost count of the pipes that came in with a drill or screw hole through it.
Seems where ever you want to drill, there is a 90% chance that there will be some thing on the other side that should not have a hole in it.

  11. Those of us that do home plumbing often use a Bernz-o-matic torch to sweat fittings. I get a tank of Mapp gas, burns hotter than propane.

  12. LOL! So is that a side effect of prolonged lead exposure?

Glad you got it done, but I still gotta believe that core could be removed from the plastic housing. If it was assembled, it can be disassembled.

Just to add a little anecdote: A buddy of mine years ago told me he had a leak in his dining room wall that was staining the sheetrock. I went to investigate and found a sheetrock screw had punctured the upstairs drain stack and when it eventually rusted through, the waste line was dripping inside the wall cavity. Yuck.

If the shiny substance on the copper tubing is excess flux , be aware flux is acid and will continue to eat the copper....

That is what I intend to do all winter. Once I get done repairing all I've broken, cut wrong, mis-wired, taken apart and re-done, the car will be finished!

  20. Seems to me that a feller could get himself into a heap of trouble making a statement like this on a public forum. o_O Good thing that her sense of humor is still intact. :D
