This remains a darn good question. I see the mods are already deleting on the other thread. Fine by me. And no, I don't think I own the joint. I just try and follow the traditional rules of this site.
I guess I will use this car as an example of what is not a gasser. This was my high school hot rod circa 1971 (see hood scoop), yeh, it had many of the things that real race cars had then, doesnt make it a "gasser", then or now, yeh, I was just a poser. And by the way, that Nova that is barely visible through the glass of the 57 was a car that I had plans of making into a real "altered" drag car, already had the firewall cut out, this was the short lived dream of a seventeen year old that even then knew the difference between a gasser and an altered. I have no issue if a mod deleted this post as that is what we pay them to do.
LB, if you decide to give up posting in most of the threads you participate in then it's our loss. It's obvious to me, and I'm sure many others, that you enjoy the site, the cars and want to keep things rolling and interesting. I may not dig on every photo I see but the good far outweigh the bad. Three guys should not have the power of constantly raining on the parade. You keep posting and I'll keep following. I'll just ask the others that post here to exercise some self editing and we won't have to draw the ire of the mods. I've dropped "ignore" on two major pains in the butt in my time here, it may be time do that again.
The only thing that I have constantly bitched about are the bogus "spoke" wheels and I am not alone in my feelings, I am just the mouthy one who is willing to take a stand. The point that you seem to be missing as evidenced by "other people surely would purchase old time spoked wheels if they could find them and or afford them " is that the gassers never ran this style of wheel (until well past the traditional gasser era when the front brake requirement went away). I have stated exactly that in prior posts but you don't seem to be capable of understanding or accepting that fact. Look back through this thread and try to find a genuine HAMB era (or even post HAMB) tri five gasser with the spindle mount 12 spoke wheels. There were none which is my whole point. Photos of cars with non era correct wheels have been deleted from numerous other threads and I am not sure why they survive here and in the Willys threads. Roo

And I understand that; to a point. I would never try to post about my own O/T build( a 1966 with updated components) as I have read the rules and parameters of this site. But when the level of purism gets so overwhelmingly and exceedingly serious such as all the bitching about some of loudbangs pictures, well, that takes a lot of the fun out of it. And this car hobby we all enjoy is supposed to be about fun. I'll just follow LB's lead and vacate this particular thread. It was fun but not now.
Ahh yes, I see you brought your ladle this morning. . I’m going to attempt to solve everyone’s issues with these wheels (I’m sure I will fail though lol) just post a pic from the gasser era (you don’t even have to post from the H.A.M.B. guidelines but then again why wouldn’t you want to???) If you find spoke spindle mount wheels (with or without five holes) on a tri five gasser from the gasser era then problem solved!
