Been awhile, but you guys usually know the deal,
Going to an auction here shortly and may need to add this engine to my rack of motors, LOL. Not sure if industrial or old car. Auction site has no clue, and apparently seller either didn't know or care to let it out.

Valve cover is about 2 inches wide, not sure how anything can work in there.

    Thanks for any help!!!

Hi. 4 cylinder farm/industrial. Looks like the water pump is driven by shaft out the rear end of gen./alt. Has water hose from pump to lower radiator outlet and radiator inlet that huge hose coming out of the side of the block. Could be for a pump, welder, etc. Look around and see what farm/industrial equipment is also for sale that needs an engine. Jimmie

The more I study it, it looks to be overhead cam with some sort of bevel shaft drive in the front. Starter looks Ford tractor, so there is that.

"The block weighs 14.8 lbs. The engine Powel Crosley is holding weighed 58 lbs. Complete with all accessories including flywheel it still only weights133 lbs."

Looks like a great engine for my motorcycle build.... Just sayin,,

One of the best 4 cly designes at the time for massproduction, had 5 mains and tower gear driven OHC,was kind of close to Offy in concept, out lived the car,to go on as reffer power unit + others an then as a outboard motor{ Homelite} ,was the main stay power for TQ midget racing tell into the late 1970s,plus lived as SCCA H-Mod racing all over USA.

thanks, serial number puts it into the latest production and cast iron block, so 30 more pounds. from what I read so far, could be industrial or military.

Also, upon further review, looks to be a tin block, not cast..

You called it a motor and then later an engine.

    You seem really confused :D

I don’t see a motor in the pictures.

It’s beyond me why you have a rack of electric motors that you would store it with if you buy it. :D

Yeah, I know. Electric motors and gas engines and hot air balloons..

But then I collect GMC trucks. General MOTORs Corporation, so I have an excuse...

    Probably not...

The brazed sheet blocks mostly rusted out. That is why they were replaced with cast iron.

Cb1, if you need parts for that transmission or another one they are still being made today. I think the company is called olympic gear or something like that. That t92 warner transmission was used in quite a few small tractors as well as other equipment.

A friend of mine has several Crosleys. He claims he can overhaul an engine while sitting at the kitchen table.

There were some speed parts for crosleys because the midget racers used em back in the day. the overhead cams made for a high winding engine and the fact that the cylinder head is an integral part of the block means you can run a lot of compression, no head gasket blow outs to worry about. The speed parts are hard to find and expensive. I paid 750 bucks for that Braje dual carb intake...

Nice little mill, I may be wrong, but I'd wager that's an A model Ford transmission

Its actually sitting on a pallet with two model A transmissions. Definitely not the same..

A T92 Warner as mentioned previously.

I'll have to win all three if I want the tranny to go with.. The peril's of an auction. Box of parts, etc..
