  3. I pulled the 6-71 blower back off the 41 so I can start swapping the idler, carb adapter and carbs over to the new 8-71. Today I'll finish polishing the new/old drive snout so it matches the new blower's shine, print up some assembly instructions, since there weren't any, and hopefully get it together.

  9. Take wife for surgery, play nursemaid, administer medications, and make sure the recovery goes well. On the side, I was able to do some work on the garage roof.
I looked at my truck, but got nothing done today.

  11. I hope the recovery is going well. I am one of those people, who in my youth spent way too much time in the sun with no protection. As a result of a lot of exposure, from playing and working in the sun, and receiving some bad burns, I was told I was a high risk.
Later in life, I spent too much time on the water in the full sun. As a result, I developed a few pre-cancerous karatoses, that were burned off. Fortunately, they have never recurred.
I feel like I dodged a bullet, but now I hide from the sun whenever possible.
I hope you are lucky enough to not have a recurrence.

Perfect opportunity to buy one of these and do your own work Danny.
I too hope everything goes well for you.

  13. As a kid growing up in the Sunny South they couldn't keep cloths on me, All I wore was a pair of cut off blue jeans and played in the sun from dawn til dusk, this is not my first rodeo with skin cancer, I've had several basal cell carcinoma's and a couple of squamous cell carcinoma's requiring additional knife work, I am waiting for lab results but thus far everything looks good.

As a kid we didn't know the dangers of sun exposure, I use sunscreen now and encourage everyone to do so. HRP

Actually did something car related today. I unloaded some fenders from my 41 Panel and looked it over a bit more. I think its savable, I found some steel under the paint. It is surprising how bad a vehicle can look until you take the layer of 50 yrs of ugly from it. 20191002_134015.jpg

Readed the roadster for El Mirage October meet. Ran the freshened engine Monday and completed the body installation to day. Wheel discs and parachute remains. Trailer is ready and the generator was run today also. Now just waiting to see if we can load up. CB7B84A0-A0EF-489A-BE18-E7DA25E54394.jpeg 75E61272-C7E2-4892-9644-F876386DD9E3.jpeg

Fronts are 60's wheels and came with the car (15"x4"); only turned around to narrow the tread width. Close look will show the screw holes for the discs. Rears are Cadillac Kelsey Hays from the 80's (15"x6") done for tread width also. Chevrolet bolt pattern with 3/4 ton Chev pick up lugs form the 80's also.

I got tired of the lumpy stuff on my Galaxie steering wheel and started to pick it off. Previous owners must have been trying to fill the cracks, but also must have been blind drunk doing it. Still got a lot of work to do to get it cleaned up. I'd rather have the cracks than the finger grooves full of crap.

  22. baby sheep 015.JPG It was cold here in the Ozarks last night. So first thing today I replaced the squirrel cage fan on the wood stove. Then me and the grandsons made a hay house for a mother sheep that has two baby lambs that are a week old. Stacked small square bales up and covered it with a huge caddy hood.

I finished replacing all of the hydraulic components and the brake booster on my '58. Before putting the tires back on I want to clean the undercarriage up. The truck was driven in the rain at least a half dozen times this summer... 72755133_2411658428871624_7602613123517775872_n.jpg

Did a much needed shop cleanup then worked on getting twisted off door hinge bolts out of the 50 F1. Wasn't fun on either account.

Finished up cleaning the gorilla snot off the Galaxie steering wheel and gave it a few coats of tractor red paint. Still have visible cracks, but they look the age of the car. Not feeling the near 300 bucks for a new one.... oh, and tightened the seat frame bolts to the floor. Gotta love the seat not flopping around like a beached flounder.

Finished off the racing season with a win at the Fall Nostalgic Meet at Island Dragway in my 57 Chevy. Did a little sandbagging in order to run N-3 class. Thirteen second and up, a lot of my buddies were in N-2 so I stayed away from them. Tried shifting early but the car actually went quicker 12.84 and 12.85. So into first round at a 13.00. Things worked out since I cut good lights and was able to play the brake light dance at the finish line. A good, safe day. Fall Nostalgic Meet 2019-winner.jpg
