So I bought a ‘62 Special Deluxe Convertible project. The trunk trim (piece between the tail lights) was missing, there are mounting holes along the bottom and top edge of the trunk lid. I found and bought the trunk trim, but the mounting is different and mounts along the center. Was there different trunk trim options for the ‘62 Buick Deluxe Convertible? Or is the trunk lid from a ‘61?
I had a '62 Buick for a long time and finally sold it a couple years ago. Don't think I ever removed the deck lid trim, but I did find a pic. Maybe it will help. IMG_1131 by Zax posted Sep 28, 2019 at 6:53 PM
Jim, the photo in your post is not a ‘63 Special. The ‘61/‘62 models shared the same exterior sheet metal, but the ‘63 BOP compacts all got a re-skin and were very slab sided with totally different front and rear facia. The OP’s car may not have the correct deck lid trim attachment holes, but it isn’t a ‘63 lid. Ray
I think you may have bought trim from a Skylark. If I recall right it is one piece with attachments in the center. It fills the whole concave indentation with chrome , instead of two separate train pieces like Squirrels picture. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Here is a picture of Skylark trunk trim. Mounts with studs in the middle. You could use by drilling holes - and maybe filling holes on the outside. Or get proper trim..... Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
