  4. I ruined the sketch I posted last week while spraying on the workable fixative... Go figure...

Redrew the car and this one turned out much better.

    Hello,

Speed Week has come and gone, but the SCTA 71st Bonneville World Finals will be going on this next week. We have always wanted to go to Bonneville for the races in the first week of August. But, scheduling conflicts always arose for us. We could see our friends and fellow drag racers modifying their cars/trucks to do the full tilt, speed runs on the open salt flats. That would have been something with our own drag race coupe and other cars in our future.

In memory of those past events from our timeline, a chopped 1955 Ford Panel Truck would have been the perfect tow/push car for the event. There would be plenty of room in the back for spare parts and all of the paraphernalia for the full speed runs. But, to keep the styling equal to the modified speed, race cars, the top would be chopped a few inches to smooth the flow of air in the long tow, there and back. The back cave would allow shaded naps during the down times of the hot salt flats.

What would be our modified race car for Bonneville, if time and money were no problem? From the time my brother and I saw the Corvette Nomad in one of those early Autoramas up in Los Angeles, we have liked the early Corvettes. But there were only a few of those fancy Corvette Nomads made and it was not for the general public. In high school, a friend had a white 54-55 Corvette with the 6 cylinder motor. It was not fast, but the coolness factor was automatically built in. It was a true “chick magnet” as it was known…but with a modern slang.

So, a few changes here, a little customizing there, and we have the smooth front lowered, chopped and ready for the high speed run. The yellow custom Corvette station wagon being pushed by the matching, also chopped,1955 Ford Panel Truck. A push for the horizon in matching colors, no doubt.

Plus, it that had happened, my brother and I would already have a cool form of surf transportation. Those long 9-10 foot boards would fit nicely inside in the back of that cool Ford Panel Truck.

I feel your pain...a drip of anything can be lethal to an artwork...And you soldiered on with a very positive outcome...
