That rear end placement reminds me of a 40 Ford pickup from many years ago. Someone had swapped an entire Buick driveline, torque tube and all, and the guy ran it without rear fenders. He thought that hid the fact that the distance between the engine and rear end was screwed up. It didn't.

I've seen that at Subway before. I like the look of the car. Almost looks like the picture is taken at the rental place next to the Barber Shop.

check with the local Cadillac dealer, don't take pictures in my store? wtf, might have been my last visit and I would get my orange Hostess cupcakes somewhere else. I'd show him!

Sure is sitting on a massive ass frame! The front wheel placement has me guessn’ as much as the rears. Hellish rake though! Kool!

  15. Anybody catch the beak on this coupe ? Thinking Plymouth-ish product, but not matching up with years searched ... on the ole' Googster internet machine.

Guessing no real "hoodlums" in Dripping Springs, these days. WE NEED A STANDING UP ON THE COUNTER PHOTO. :)

Sounds like someone needs to visit the Archives down at City Hall.
The curator might remember the files that the picture came from, if it was recent.

I don't think people go down to city hall and get photos anymore, it's not 1980. I'd try to get a pic straight on and Google image search it.

What the heck kind of art is that? It looks like it's painted on the wall especially the front hood area...

It reminds me of that kooky looking 2/3 size A coupe that had a vintage past some years ago...it was a beater

Frame looks to be very early Dodge, ('25-'29) with front horns chopped off, and not 'tapered'. (Massive!)
Is the rear (if moved back) really adding to coolness of stance? Hope it was just camera angle!

Mike, it looks like the front axle is sitting back a bit, too.

Grinning to myself here, you should have asked him to immediately show you the surveillance camera footage that he had of you taking the picture, then call fair trade!

Or, You could just respect the fact that the owner doesn't want pictures taken in his store. Simple enough....

Online feedback says he has run some of the best help that was in the store before he took it over off so I'd leave it as his attitude towards the world.

The car does look familiar but I don't remember from Texas events from the 70's. It looks to have come from the era where you fit up what you had rather than modifying it for aesthetics. Driveshaft from the donor a tad long, we will just move the rear wheels back a like amount rather than shortening the drive shaft. A lot of things that we do as a matter of course now like having a driveshaft made or narrowing a rear end and having the flanges and drums redrilled to match our wheels of choice weren't done by the majority back then. You might spend five hours in a wrecking yard or several with a tape measure looking at possibilities for a workable drive shaft but cutting one down to size was pretty much out of the question unless you hung around with JD Fikes of Waco and then it was cut, weld go.

  30. yep....maybe like Whataburgers wall art.......
