Stogy, I may regret this but I give up, what does Gomer Pyle say?...

The only things I could come up with are Goooollllllllllyyyyyyyy! or Shazam! (As you read those you need to be using a hard core southern accent!):)

The passengers side was pretty simple. A little wheel well repair, 1/4 patch, small door and lower cowl patches.

Drivers door on the other hand, was a clusterfuck. It had been bent over backwards sometime in it's life and was way worse than it looked. Zero door gap.

Middle hinge/belt line area was fubar.

    Little gap work.

    Little hinge/beltline work.

About a day worth of hammer and dolly work, a lower patch and some giant relief cuts.

    She is all better now.

    Happy Labor Day. -Abone.

Got some quick work in before the hurricane gets me. Bondo'd panel and ugly taillights got to go.

The lower 1/4 ends are in pretty good shape.

This is the second Howells tail panel I have used. It took them 6 weeks to ship a panel that was "in stock", but the sumbitch fit right in there with zero trimming. Their other panels I used for this car were also pretty damn close to perfect.

See you later if I don't blow away.

I have 8 of the 3 bulb LEDs in a 24X32 and it is bright as a mofo. Money well spent.

    Jeff,
The creativity and ingenuity our Hot Rod brothers before us was almost amazing. I have seen many suspensions and frame work that today would make a guy cringe, yet they drove them all over God's Country and raced them all the time, and they held together.
I'm glad you shared the original modified work pictures with us.
    Love your project brother,
    Glenn

Time to make some motor mounts. Mock up block and TKO-600.

    Fits right in there.

    Here is the basic idea.

This morning's project was the most basic transmission mount you have ever seen.

  19. That blower mockup photo is bad ass, what style headers you plan on using ?New tail pan probably saved a few pounds without the bondo, I'd say that was a big relief cut in that door, just never know how far you have to go to sleep well at night knowing it's right.
I picked up an empty case to make a foot stool out of, if you need the extra end plate let me know. 20190908_171556.jpg

The mock up blower is the one that came off my Model A after about 100K miles. Totally wiped out.

Make sure and post pics of your foot stool.

Time to build the quick change.

Chill the axle tubes, heat the bells and they plop right in.

Don't try this at home. I was too chicken to use my wife's oven for the magnesium center, so I heated the pinion area to 300 degrees with the shop heater.

Set the center section and differential on the driver side bell.

Set the passengers side bell on, shim the differential to get .012 of gap on the bell.

Now, arrange the shims to get about .005 back lash on the pinion.

Bolt her all together. You might notice the aluminum bells are now "magnesium color."

Next is getting that thing stuck under the car.

    See ya, -Abone.

Wow, that's a lot easier than I thought it would be. You did all that in one post. Probably took about a half hour? ;)

I noticed you chilled the proper lubricant also.
We use to repair Magnesium wheels at Smiley's by cutting out the damaged area with a band saw and cutting the replacement lip out of a damaged wheel and welding it in the wheel were repairing
Mag welds just like spreading peanut butter. Just make sure it's clean no oxidation. It welds like aluminum.
Now the mag dust and mag saw dust is a different story, it ignites very easily in a bright white flash.

Time to locate the quick change. These bars are maybe a bit of overkill, but it is a blown Pontiac with slicks and a stick.

    Squared up and tacked.

Still too tall, but here is the basic idea.
