That's what I love about them! They look great nose down hot rod style, AND ass down custom style.

Started the drivers quarter today. Changed up my TIG technique and it's coming out nicely. Slow moving but looking good. Also played around with stance and made a paper skirt. I'm getting excited! IMG_20181010_152000_651.jpeg 20181010_145802.jpeg IMG_20181010_152000_653.jpeg

Between welds I took a couple years off of the old girl!! 67 mustang big block radiator sat in. Just need to mark and drill 4 holes. 20181011_123348.jpeg 20181011_123359.jpeg 20181011_125524.jpeg

  6. I never cared for skirts on a shubox but I like the rest. I'm amazed the old Korean war chrome 51 grill is still shiny. That's gonna make a nice little cruiser.

The grill is really dirty from sitting. With a little polish job it will look great! I cant wait to drive it. The woman like it so much she gave me permission to buy more parts so it's full steam ahead!

outstanding work, the coupe addition is the bomb. Hoping you are keeping the 51 grille, I think they are one of the most beautiful ever. Glad to see the blue engine. This car is fab!

Took a day to try and get the stance where I wanted it. The car sat too high for me. So instead of spending $370 on lowering rear springs i just took my spring reversing jig and de-arched mine. Worked out pretty well! 2.5" lower and right where I want it. Slow but steady progress! 20181024_171135.jpeg 20181024_171158.jpeg 20181024_134436.jpeg

Nothing really picture worthy lately. Front end torn apart, engine trains pulled, lots of finish work. I did use the citric acid trick to clean up the rotors that are brand new just say out side on the other car for years. Works in hours not days. Crazy. 20181123_111439.jpeg IMG_20181123_112315_219.jpeg 20181124_190926.jpeg

Quick update of sorts. We had another little boy back in June so progress has stopped for now. But that will change this winter. I'm really hoping to drive this car some time in 2020. We'll see! 20190730_114526.jpeg 20190713_173259.jpeg

I will take some when I get home tonight for you. It's super simple and uses a cheap bottle jack. And thank you!

Personally, I prefer the dorky simple cars with super clean lines.. Everything gets pretty gaudy from
    56-60..

Really nice shoebox you have there. Congratulations on the new family addition..

The goal with this car is "clean and simple" nothing too complicated. An understated reliable driver. And thank you! The time away from the garage just fuels my fire to build. It will be hot and heavy when I get back.

Well I'm glad it was you so I don't get all the hate mail, but your exactly right. ..same thing with 49-51 Mercs. You've got to have something to break up the slab sideness.

I got some free time so I wanted to do something fun. I started on what will most likely end up as the tail light treatment on the car. I started with some motorcycle oil tank end domes and some 4 inch exhaust tubing. These should fit up nicely and look killer! I know it's a blatant rip off of @Ryan Lee Pratt built coupe but it is my favorite shoebox of all time so.... yeah. Haha! 1953 Oldsmobile super 88 tail lights. Still need some finish work and to build the other one but I'm pretty happy with it!
