I had the frame blasted and then started to move the springs inside the frame. I bought Cal_Trac springs and traction bars and sliders. 20190319_074530.jpg 20190406_172522.jpg 20190411_153226.jpg 20190411_152939.jpg

Next I notched the frame for more tire clearance. I cut it in half and moved the piece I cut off to the inside and welded it up. I said before I had a 57 Pontiac rear end but I sold it and got a 9" Ford. I kinda wish I still had it. I figured the ford would be better.

  6. Looking good! But you should start your own thread on this build. I’m sure most of us want to see more of it.

I made new front engine mounts and notched the X member lowering the motor and trans 2 1/2 inches. That gives me better drive shaft angle. I also cut the X member and welded tabs to bolt it up so it can be removed.

Stephen glad you are taking us along for your build-all good stuff. Glad to see another solid axle drag car come to life. I am including pictures of my 60 Vette chassis that started life with a small block that ran gas in the 60s to a big block modified production car (although occasionally ran gas) from Alabama.

They both have sliders and also notice the cut down in the x-frame. Ricky Moore who built the chassis to where it is today, told me the cut down not only helped with the driveshaft angle but also helped with pulling the trans (Doug Nash 5-speed) at the track. Of course the car did not have the four link in the 60s and it had a Pontiac rear at the time but he updated it over the years to the Dana 60 and added the four link. The Pontiac you had may have been cool but I suppose you can argue the Ford 9" will take a bit more punishment (although some may debate that). Vette -12-13 005r.jpg

Your build is looking great-keep up the good work.

20190317_154759.jpg My friend Wheeler working on his 62 in the Navy base hobby shop at Cecil field in 72 or 73 he had 3 fuel injections and he wanted to trade me one for a holley and high rise. That is where too fools met. Lol I wouldn't do it

  24. Just had to check the data on that car! It was first registered in Sweden -77, I wonder if it had that paint job when it was imported, or if it got the paint over here.

The car has a manual gearbox and 275 kW, which translates to roughly 350 hp. I guess someone was really keen on the "cool kid on the block"-title back in -77! :)

Current information in the Swedish Transport Agency's database suggests that it's been restored to stock configuration - color: red, tires: GR60-15.
