I think it just refers to the "Deep dutch oven" design.
the spring, as you noticed, is a F'n MONSTER, simply a wound up leaf spring it seems. On my conversion, I didn't want to use the huge Clark truck 5 speed trans in the Auburn chassis. I used a GM 465 4 speed. there is enough room down inside the "pot" to put a modern pressure plate and clutch, I simply had to drill and tap a few holes.
    Great thread!

My crazy mate has a 46 Seagrave fire truck that was based at Seattle airport. We’ve kicked about plans to build an Edsel Ford 34 boattail roadster. Modenawest posted a swoopy Custom photoshop on Facebook D3407B15-CC45-4370-B3E9-C9AE87901230.png of the original. Now I wonder what it would look like with a V12 stuffed in there.

Man those chunks of steel for the drums must have cost a small fortune! And the machine work? I bought a 24' 10w19 I beam for a car port and that was $560 +, about a dollar a pound!

Due to lack of strength provided by the torque tube, we must had to make a auxiliary arm lateral to the driveshaft linked to the differential house and chassis cross member.
We cut the steel and made the parts.

Designed a special new cross member in heavy steel that will serve as support for the mechanical central brakes linkage.

And bolted the auxiliary arm to the central cross member with rubber mounts to work in acceleration and breaking.

With all due respect to Jay Leno and Wayne Carrini, I hope that they will never be able to own this wonderful machine you are building, a unique machine of this rarity and complexity, with such mastery of metal fabrication and design, this machine deserves to be kept by the man that built it! I am anxious to see some video of it when completed, being driven around there in your country! Now that you have mastered the Seagraves engine, you are more than ready to wrench on vintage liberty V-12 engines, and Hall Scott engines, and Curtiss engines!

Thanks for your precious words my friend!
And find engines like you show us is my dream! It’s almost impossible to find them in Brazil.

  10. You guys are doing a great job. Fascinating and innovative. I'm curious as to what timeframe this has taken so far. Seems to be flying along.

This is so far off the charts, I salute you guys . Amazing stuff. As I started reading about the brakes, I decided that now there's no question that you're insane. In a very good way !

Hey fellow Brazilian! I read the title and thought about the rat rod that guy built using a marine 12 cilinders engine with turbos. That thing is insane but only useful to do burnouts hahahha. Your project is insane, congrats for the idea and the gorgeous v12 you have!

The long hood almost demands the use of a large engine.
Although a few of the cars in this thread (including mine) are not 100 percent traditional hot rods, I appreciate being able to post and interact with other builders.

We had to put the steering box far behind because the bigger engine taken all the space.
And we moved it more to the center to put the steering wheel more central, like an old race car.

The steering wheel is a original 1927 Buick unity.

Yes. The chassis went from a 1926 Buick with 128 inches of wheelbase.

We put some wood sheets to define the firewall, radiator and seat positions.

    The steering turns ok!
We made a extra longer steering bar.

Looks like the tire will hit the bar once mounted on the rim?
