Haha. No, it was done by the previous owner. But he was just concerned about the looks, without paying any attention to the rest. The Smokey touch was actually on of its selling points for me.
I just made it a drivable car: power brakes, power steering, climate control, modern seats, etc. It will be my daily.

That's probably the best all around truck to have. Driver, tow ing and keep your swap meet/,garage sale hood safe and sound plus you could catch some zzzzz

 

More of a "Shopping" Truck than a Shop Truck. Built this '48 Chev Panel a few years ago as my Wife's "grocery getter". Unfortunately, a guy from Long Island offered me WAY TOO MUCH $ for it. Boy, was the Wife ever pissed...

My "shop truck" -1950 international with SBC and Nova running gear ,full air bag system built by myself probably close on 20 years ago! Great 8 foot bed and 48" between the inner wheel wells means you can get a full sheet of plywood in for transport .Great for hauling my bikes too -very thick (heavy) bodywork too!

 

Totally agree, my '47 Ford is real patina and I'm considering using "flat clear" but will be testing a sample panel I have first to see if I like it.

Clear over worn paint has an odd look and I don't think you will like it. It looks artificial and kind of ruins the natural patina look in my eyes.

I put Gibbs oil on my truck after seeing a friend's bare metal car. I like the look and it helped with my very old, worn and dry paint. It does help considerably. You will need to re-apply it after several weeks but that is a fairly quick process.

 

Let me look it up but a guy does his old Chevy truck . It on YouTube if you want to search for it before i can look tonight. Video has his wife and him applying it. I think their called "Broke down garage "s or something similar.

 

He tells you how he mixes it.
