Just a note; my Seagrave had really nice looking finned coils. Those aluminum brackets look real excellent. Good job (as usual).

I sold the truck three years ago. I'll try to find a picture. I know I have a bunch some place.

I will mention this. One of the few things that were in bad shape on the truck when I got it was the exhaust system. I had a set of dual straight pipes bent up for it that exited in front of the rear tires. It sounded great. (The pipes were long enough that it wasn't outrageously loud.)

Here the solution for the open shaft gearbox/torque tube differential marriage.
    2ba276ae-b51a-4fde-bc7a-7e8f90a572ac.jpg
We weld the striated on the solid inner shaft.
    f90b94b7-e5d8-40d9-9a33-de0010bc3c88.jpg
Cut a middle portion of the solid shaft and made a strong conic weld between the extremities.
    3e384774-ef0c-47d6-8d31-e6281410c566.jpg
Cut the torque tube and made a bearing collar with seals.

And voila! They are together forever!

    Not finished yet.
But we go fast now because in this time we are building the wood frame for the body.
    Only few steps ahead.
Soon the pace will be slower.

The engine didn’t had a generator, I don’t know why.
So we find a 30 amperes one and made a special pulley and attached ir to the water pump.

About that rear suspension arrangement, I've been collecting parts to build a 1/2 elliptical system like that for 1 of my cars, but did find only one crumy picture. I'm most curious about how the rear end is attached to the springs and if the center supports are pivots. Any explanation and closeup pictures would be greatly appreciated.

It's called a "POT" style, my ALF stuff looks exactly the same.

  16. Thanks, weps. ;) Is that P.O.T., like an abbreviation for a longer name? Or does it just mean it looks like it's all built into a pot, like a big cast iron Dutch oven?

The brakes were a big problem.
In 1926 Buick used a external band mechanical system.
The brakes drums were very thin and deformed.
So we decided to make new ones.
We bought 4 1045 steel discs and send them to the machine shop to make new drums.

The final product was very satisfactory in my opinion.

Hola Amigo! I just now discovered this amazing thread. Makes me feel kind of guilty that when we did my 46 IHC firetruck, we went for a G.M. 350, and a turbo 400 and updated newer style rear end. The original flathead 6 with 4 speed rock crusher and low geared rear end meant that it topped out at about 50 MPH at best. Here in my neighborhood is the " last resort fire department " The owner has a vast collection of working firetrucks, and is an excellent source for information on where a lot of the parts are. His e mail is [email protected] the phone number is 206-783-4474. I am totally impressed by your incredible build, your skills are rare and are totally appreciated!
