Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by straykatkustoms, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. I have to agree somewhat with this, even the most mild of customs needs some basic body work such as nosing and decking or some really wild paint work that keeps your eyes from noticing the lack of custom work. Just taking a stock vehicle and lowering it and putting wheels on is not really custom, in my opinion. Its modified, not custom. It kinda boils down to how you spell it. Is is "C"ustom or "K"ustom? That is how I separate the two anymore.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that the new car manufacturers are approaching the proportions of a chopped post war lead sled in their desire to fit 18 inch or larger tires?

yup, I have heard people call these and others (63-5 rivieras for one ) "factory customs" that means that the factory designers got it right and very few if any mods are required to make them a cool car....

I always look at it; Custom stands for a contemporary style and Kustom is for a traditional style.

Thanks for posting the pics. I was happy to see it last weekend at the Lead Ain't Dead show. I missed seeing it at the Spectacular in Salina. I agree with some comments not liking one thing or the other. But, I can't think of one kustom that I wouldn't change something. Jason is a kool guy and love seeing a young guy enjoying our hobby. I'll do everything I can to encourage him rather than just set back and tear it down. Looking forward to his next update.

  7. I would agree with that. I think my view might just be based on living in the pacific northwest and how the local scene looks like when at any kind of shows.. It seems last few years that people are calling pro touring machines withLS swaps and fancy interiors as customs around here.

For some-one to put this much work into a car and for people to publicly make fun of it is kind of dis-heartening. Yes we do need to encourage any one who builds a car. I really enjoyed seeing that car at Salina and look forward to seeing it completed.

Yes the same thing is happening every where. That is one reason why I started this thread. Hopefully it will help define what is a Kustom.

I am one of the mockers. I saw it in person last weekend in Dewey and the craftsmanship was better than I expected. It was also my 7 year-old son's favorite car there!
It is not my style but with a different top it can be an awesome custom car. (Which is NOT meant as a slam - it is a lift-off top so easy to replace and it does not match the rest of the car.
