I am looking for a source for the hubcap retainer clips for 35 or 36 caps on my wire wheels

35 was last year for wire wheels for Ford if that is what your referring to. 36 was wide 5 with the clips on the wheel.

You are right that the 35 is the last wire. But you are wrong that a 36 had the clip on the cap. The big pattern steel wheels had the clips on the wheels.

OP: Sorry I've never seen clips for either kind sold separately.

You are correct, sorry I should have been a little clearer. I was referring to the separate retainer ring on the inside of the cap. I've had caps in the past where someone had removed that ring and made the cap useless. These were all spider caps.

  5. A 1935 cap with no inner clip would be a locking spare cap would,nt it ? Why would someone remove the inner clip anyway ? I,ve had buckets full of 32/35 caps and allways complete on the inside. Then again a spider cap was for 1936 to 1939 . Thats if you mean one of those chrome trims that had the same pattern as the wide five. Holes and all.
Anyhow the OP says wirewheel so it,s the smaller 1935 style cap.

I am talking about a 16” wire wheel cap. I have made some aluminum caps, but I need the clips. I had bought a new set of stainless caps and they have the new clips, but I am looking to buy just the clips.

I was doing the same thing. I worked on casting my own knock-off styled caps and wanted them to snap on like a stock 1935 cap would. I never found anyone selling just the spring clips separately. So I bought a few really ratty original caps for a couple bucks.
