Those headlights reminded me of this ride at last weekends Jalopy Jam-up. Lol. The workmanship was top notch.

@ratamahata posted quite a few of this true Vintage Hotrod Truck back a bit in this thread...It was an interesting time...I'm much more open to these wild distorted Hotrods than in my past...

You were fortunate to see that up close and personal...

Here's Rat's Post which does expand for a bit at link below...;)

This has been posted a few times here...If I remember correctly there is another shot of it underneath a Tractor Trailer...it must have been a handful and a thrill at the same time...

It's from your part of Town and pretty close in time-frame to your coupe...Certainly not near as polished as your Coupe but more strip or street fighter than a looker but probably was a nasty bugger.

Did you encounter this fella at all or know of?

    I thought so...perhaps I aged you a wee bit......sorry about that...
Again these are all things that molded the scene we are experiencing today good and bad as you say...that low slung look was around a lot longer than this one...

There was surely a huge percentage along that fine line you describe...with great results evolving from both sides of the fence. Not everyone was a Kurtis Kraft. Thats why every pic we can rescue helps build the history of what was.

Isn't that roadster pretty much how all hot rods were on the east coast, excuse me if I am wrong. Heavy channel and no chop?

  20. Those are my photos of some Stamford cars from the 50's-60's. Two were mine. There was a Black Road page, but it looks like it is gone. (some of the photos are from it that I copied)
I was too young back in the 50's to be in the Black Road's but several of my cousins were in it. Today I am kinda grandfathered in!

  21. That roadster was the extreme, owned by Bogie . The channeled A coupe was also a typical East coast car, owned By Jerry Harold. Buick powered. The roadster had a Caddy in it, as did that 49 Ford. The 49 Chevy was running a 348 Chevy. The small page magazine was tb33anda3rd Father's car that tb rebuilt and is on the road today.

A Balance of Many visions from mild to wild...perfect...Your A Roadster looked like a Warrior...We also must understand the Builders were from all walks in life I suspect from skilled to lesser then BUT not without The Hotrod Spirit by any means...

  23. I did not build that A roadster, but I had the 327 running like a beast. It was a very fast roadster., nothing could beat it in town. 30 roadster.jpg 30 roadster_0001 (2).jpg
I would park it in the teachers parking lot at High School.

  26. Aw shit! My wife just came into the office and I asked her was it her that hit her head on the roll bar in my A Roadster. She said "Noooo, why don't you ask your x girlfriend" I said which one? She said "I forgot you were so popular!" I said, I know!:) Now I am in the dog house the rest of the day!:(:p
