    Hello,
Despite what anyone says about the traffic in So Cal, there are times when a short coastal cruise down PCH just hits the spot. (little to no traffic in the early AM) In the early morning, the air is crisp, the sun is peeking over the mountains and the ocean is just waiting for the hordes of people getting away from the massive heat wave hitting So Cal this week. Not only is it a holiday, but the end of a very mild summer.

Labor Day is the perennial end of summer, since the starting of the school year used to be after Labor Day. That was traditional all the way back to the 50s. But, as pressure of testing scores and acknowledgement of being a top quality school or school district, they began to start earlier and earlier. Why? It gives the districts more time to learn the stuff that is going to be on the fall/spring testing programs, to build up the national recognition of how well the district schools are performing.

For the rest of us, it is a holiday to rest and relax prior to the new school year. The last minute school supplies were no longer necessary at this time, why? Most of the local schools have already started in the middle of August. The rush was on a couple of weeks ago. This year, the students will be out in time for the early June gloom in 2020.

    Jnaki

The drive was worth it since we are regular home bodies these days. Plus, we needed to fill up the gas tank for the rest of the week, anyway. Have a nice Labor Day road trip early…stay off the roads after lunch as the vacationers will be heading home.

I loaded up my 8 year old grandson and took him for a visit to see his mom and her family, not my idea of a good holiday but he's having a great time, the things we do for love.

  13. Got a shed project done..

Mom sold her place and the shed was not part of the deal so I loaded the shed on the small trailer brought it over to the house went back got the cement blocks and the flooring. Reset the blocks in the floor got the air compressor abound to the flooring then had to put the shed on backwards and turn it around due to the compressor would not really go through the door too easy.
Went to Home Depot first thing this morning before the traffic got sto0pid,
And got two sheets of 3/8 plywood and of course I Marine coated them HAHA, fiberglass resin so they don't dry out maybe a coat of paint later.
Have a total of about $60 including the wood and resin.
The resin was more than the wood not bad for recycling and keeping a new compressor out of the weather...

    BTW
HATE a air compressor in a shop noisy basterds.

Now time for some Adult COLD beverages as the heat comes on,
And watch the idiot's on the freeway get all phucked up and cause another traffic jam for hours.

CD player quit in the 37 Chevy. Got a newish replacement ( no it’s not stolen, does anybody even steal car stereos anymore?) Wife and I went for a cruise - realized our precious LED ZEPPELLIN CD was locked up in the old CD player. Powered up the old deck - disaster averted - CD recovered. Gonna go for another cruise play track 6 ... What is and what should never be.

Waxing the 47 coupe! I just came in to take a break and cool off. I got the wax all applied and when I cool off I'll head back out and start buffing it off.

Hasn't been much of a relaxing weekend for me anyway, I've had gigs Thursday night, Friday night, I had Saturday off but had another 4 hour gig yesterday, and I have a 3 hour gig coming up tonight at the House of Blues.

Got groceries this morning and been pondering my belly button every since. All that burned up energy has me in the mood to check the temperature of a couple of Buds before grilling the brats!

A buddy came over at 6:30 this morning and has helped me all day getting the ceiling in the shop insulated and covered with plywood. Inside of the shop is finally done! 20190902_100052.jpg 20190902_100055.jpg 20190902_151452.jpg 20190902_151500.jpg

Well this was a stupid idea.... Damn, 3/4 of the way done, in for another cooling off period. If you have to take multiple breaks to get it done, it's too damned hot!!! It wasn't so bad when I got started before noon, but this afternoon it's kicking my butt.

Getting the flathead ready to put in my 30 Sport Coupe, still a long way to go but making progress. Decided I wanted to get running before I finished and painted the front fenders. Long term project, bought the body 20 years ago and mocked it together then got shoved in the corner. Thought about selling it but decided to finish it so made a lot of progress over the last year.

Emptying trailer after annual Labour day weekend Sunday swap meet and car show. It rained off and on all day during the meet and thinned out the big crowd that usually shows up. Better luck next year.
