Some think I chopped my 34 too much. Interestingly enough, the only person that has to like it is ME.

we didn't want a gangster look to the 51 fleetline so we chopped it 2 3/4 inches in front to "0" at the back

Mark, The UFO32 is a local classic, think it was the first car I ever saw with TIG welding. The bobbed rear fenders ran in bare steel for a few years if my memory is correct. Bob

53 FORD.jpg You have to really like bodywork to chop a top. Most guys chop the top, but never do the side windows. Getting it totally right is a helluva lot of work. Cutting glass, altering vent windows, modifying garnish moldings , and keeping everything aligned correctly. I've done a few, here's one I'm proud of. Generally most guys chop cars so severely it becomes comical.... Just one guys opinion.

I think the laid back windshield looks great with the chop. I think the reason people say that is because they know they can't ride in it.......I assume the seats recline?;)

IMG_0180.JPG The hood on my 34 is a stock original, only mod is the louvers.
As to the chop, The issue of course is visibility. I posted this pic a long time ago but gives an idea what I see.

I like your view too, but it appears your speedo isn't working.

  20. Speedometers are highly overrated, in certain cases if you know how fast you are going it might scare the crap out of you! :D HRP

I chopped about 15 cars 2 of them are mine and one of the 2 is 5" front and 6" back then I 'm 5'3 so I might section it. Average chop is in the 3 to 4" range, customs usually with 1" more taken out back. Oldest from 1929 newest from 1972.
This is my favorite mod to perform on a car. I did coupés, 2dr sedans, 4dr sedans (converted to 2dr, 1 is mine ), 1 panel, 1 delivery and my wagon (converted to 2dr).
I just love chopped cars done tastefully, not overdone like a steamroller drove over it.

This ‘32 pickup was bought new by my grandfather for use in our family water well drilling company. Sold off to an employees son in 1958. He chopped it in the local HS shop in 1959. I bought it in 1972 for $75.00 complete in pieces. Don’t know if I’ll live long enough to build her, but I’d like to. She’s the only chopped one I’ve ever had. It’s a very RUFF chop!

  28. Beautiful work, applause to you Sir....

  29. It's still in my garage/shop, in my name presently, hope to get it to the new owner after some details are finished up.
