So I could use a little HAMB assist. Picked up this set recently and could not be happier... Always wanted an original set but never knew the car they were originally on. Any help is appreciated. I'm hoping to find a few replacement bezels and I need one spider web??? or whatever they use to call it. The metal grate. One has separated from the center...I'm unsure if I could braze or ??? then replate. The jewel in the center is a separate piece...by the way. SO excited to find something like this in the wild for cheap. Thanks in advance. You may notice that one of the bezels looks like there was an old repair... Appears that the original rusted out and someone soldered/brazed a replace bottom on it to get by...
Couldn't quite see-anything cast in the glass? Maybe after market? JC Whitney or someone? Sent from my moto g(6) using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
guy had a table full of new LED tail lights... someone repops the bezels but only to fit not to be correct. saw 2 different lights with the same bezel... '50 ponchos had 3 dimensional bezels... the odd ones were sort of a ring, like yours... memory says that the willys used the ring style bezel, it may fit what you need... HIH.
Phil you are correct. google Chrysler Airflow tail lights and those are what comes up plus a few variants.
Actually, it should be "I'll take Le Tits Now for 800". If you get it you should be crying from laughing right now, if not..............nevermind.
@DDDenny Yep. Haha. ( I try not to touch the edit button ... when its too late. ) Let it snow. Lol ... "like your motha' likes it."
One pic had the word “signal “ stamped into the metal with Pan’ t Pending, leads me to believe they are aftermarket copies of some originals? Maybe “ Signal Stat” ? Just guessing.... Bones
I'll look into that... I'm just hoping to get a plan together to achieve a pair of bezels and repair/replace one of the fancy web things on the outside... (mine is separated from the middle jewel ring) These must be high dollar because all the replacement stuff is very high so far...
Those reminded me of this single I've been searching for a mate to forever. Frehauf light off the rear of a semi trailer is my guess, but damned if I have ever seen another.
1936 Chrysler Airflow, from memory they had three versions over three years of production. I have a pair of 36’s, one NOS. One of the coolest tail lights around. You can get look alikes based on the 50 Pontiac tail light. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A jeweler would be a very good person to talk to about repairs. Some one on here is one, can,t remember his name
Check out this thread.......... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...light-housings-for-50-pontiac-lights.1062916/ He makes and sells the Pontiac/Airflow style taillight for those who don't want to attempt to resurrect a rusty corpse. Since that thread was posted, he has added a couple more trim options, one similar to the full basket, Airflow style. I helped him out in the past with some minor glasswork. He's a nice guy, easy to deal with.
Actually, there were Airflows for four years. 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937. I know....picky, picky, picky.
