Was lubing the Model A and ran into this situation with the location of the upper king pin zerk fitting being blocked my the steering arm. Unfortunately there isn’t enough space to allow a 45 or 90 degree fitting. I suspect the dropped axle is part of the problem but trying to figure out how to get grease in there. Could I possibly remove the fitting and fill with grease using a needle attachment on my grease gun? Appreciate any tips.
Redrill and tap the spindle is what I did . There is a grease groove around the inside of the bushing . Just align the new , fitting hole with the lube groove , and all will be well . Install a 1/4 x 28 thread set screw as a plug in the old hole and it’s as good as it gets .
This along with using a needle nozzle attachment may work. I did not even think about the flush type. Hopefully my local NAPA will have them.
